Neil Milkins is appealing to Exeter Daily readers to help locate relatives, living in the Exeter area, of Freda Elsie Maud Burnell.

Neil writes:

Eight-year-old, Teignmouth-born Freda was murdered in Abertillery, Monmouthshire, (now Gwent) in February 1921.

Freda and her family had moved to Abertillery from Devon for her father Frederick George Burnell to work in the local colliery.

After Freda's murder the family moved back to Devon and a number of the family members lived in Exeter.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information following reports of arson in Exeter.

The incident happened at around 1am on Monday 2 April near the junction of Heather Close and Thornpark Rise.

A grey Mini Cooper S was parked in residential parking when it was set on fire after the sunroof was smashed.

A 32-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of arson and released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Police appeal to catch Exeter arsonist

Police have released footage of a man they wish to identify following a number of deliberate fires in Exeter.

Police are investigating 14 incidents that they currently believe are linked, which have taken place in and around Exeter since August.

Sector Inspector Simon Arliss, said: “We are investigating a number of offences which all appear to be linked, and we are asking for the public to help us identify the individual responsible.

Police in Exeter are seeking witnesses after two people with learning difficulties were subjected to verbal abuse by a group of teenage boys.

The man and woman were leaving the Vue Cinema around 7.15pm on Sunday 26 November when the incident happened.

Three boys, aged around 15, blocked the entrance to the cinema and subjected the pair to threats and verbal abuse.

The victims, from Exeter, were left very distressed and fearful and police are treating the incident as a hate crime.

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Exeter on Saturday 25 November 2017.

The incident happened on the Western Way Inner Bypass at around 3.20am by The Kingfisher pub.

A male offender, known to the two victims, allegedly assaulted them with a bladed article causing injury to the arm and the shoulder. The victims received minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted assault in Exeter.

At around 9:45am on Wednesday 25th of October, a disturbance took place in the vicinity of Polsloe Bridge, Monks Road and Hamlin Lane, Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses in relation to this incident which is believed to have involved two men and a 17-year-old woman.

Officers are keen to hear from anyone that may have seen a dark coloured vehicle, possibly a VW Polo or a Golf in the area during this time.

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Exeter where a man was set upon and his distinctive mountain bike stolen.

The man was cycling home along Cowick Street between 00.05am and 3am on Friday 29 September when he was assaulted by at least two people . They took his mountain bike, iPhone and a men’s balance trainer.

The victim, a 33-year-old man from Exeter, sustained facial injuries in the robbery which happened somewhere between St Thomas Pleasure Ground and Wardrew Road.

Police appeal after man dies in crash on A38 Haldon Hill

A 54-year-old man has died as a result of a serious collision on the A38 at Haldon Hill on Sunday 8 October 2017.

Police were called at around 12.49pm to reports of a serious single-car collision between a car and a tree on the Plymouth-bound carriageway.

Emergency services attended the scene on the A38 on the Westbound carriageway. The collision involved a white Ford Fiesta car containing the male driver who was the sole occupant.

The driver, who was from Bovey Tracey, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and the coroner notified....

Police are seeking witnesses to a serious collision near Axminster yesterday afternoon [10 August] which left four men injured.

Emergency services were called to the A35 at Kilmington at 2pm following the collision between a blue VW Passat and a red Chevrolet Corvette.
