City's largest art exhibition returns

Exeter’s largest art exhibition returns again this year under a new guise and with a new name.

The Exeter Art Show promises to be bigger and better than ever and with up to 150 different artists exhibiting their works, it is doubtful that there is any one show than can claim to be so big this side of Bristol! Hosted by the Maynard School in the centre of Exeter, the doors will be open to the public on Saturday, 4 and Sunday, 5 July 2015 where anyone can quite simply pop in free of charge to browse or, for the more serious art collector, buy! Local artists have again been brightening up the corridors of the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with their annual Friends and Family art exhibition.

Now in its 16th year, the exhibition has been organised by Exeter HealthCare Arts to showcase the work of the local arts community who have a connection to the hospital. The exhibitors include talented RD&E staff, outpatients and former patients, who have all loaned their work to help brighten up the hospital environment.

Scrapstore supremo calls for community input

An Exeter charity faced with rebuilding its headquarters is calling on artistic and creative individuals and groups to help by completing a short survey.

Over the last 30 years the Scrapstore has provided a wealth of arts and crafts materials to families, community organisations, schools, playgroups and artists across Devon.

Now in its fourth year as a charity the Scrapstore is looking to the future. Its current home, a hut in the corner of Belmont Park is over 75 years old and will need replacing or a major makeover.

Face 2 Face with climate change

A striking new exhibition which opened yesterday (8 October), presents 12 of the Exeter based (either at the University or Met Office) IPCC authors through a series of striking large-scale black and white portraits.

Entitled ‘Face 2 Face with climate change’, the artwork is the brainchild of Exeter-based One Planet MBA graduate David Mansell-Moullin.

Young artists showcase at A la Ronde

Work by art students from Exmouth Community College is being shown at A la Ronde, the sixteen-sided National Trust house near Exmouth from 9 to 22 October.

Local mental health project receives support of acclaimed artist

The Time to Change funded Double Elephant project based in Exeter has received support from acclaimed artist David Shrigley.

The mental health project aims to tackle the stigma that surrounds mental illness by engaging communities across Devon in print making whilst starting a conversation about mental health.
