Police are inviting cyclists to take advantage of a free bike security marking event near Chudleigh next weekend. Officers and PCSOs will be on hand at the main car park in Haldon Forest on Sunday 10 August to mark cycles, and offer crime prevention and road safety advice to riders. Sam Alford and Sam White, both from Exmouth, are starting a bike recycling project at Bicton EaRTH in East Devon. It is one of few such projects based in the heart of a rural community where there is a need for low-cost, independent transport – especially for young people.

Ambitious proposals to improve cycling access to Dartmoor National Park have received £4.4 million of Government funding today.
Devon County Council and Dartmoor National Park, who are leading the successful bid, have welcomed the announcement by the Department for Transport.

Britain’s cycling heroes have inspired record numbers of youngsters in Exeter to get on their bikes, according to figures from British Cycling.
The number of young British Cycling members is soaring, with under 18 membership increasing by 32 per cent across the South West in the past year.
Cycling clubs in the region are also experiencing an influx of new young riders, with British Cycling reporting a significant increase in cyclists at all of its 47 Go-Ride clubs across the region – six of which were formed in the past year.

Trainees on a pilot scheme to refurbish and re-sell bicycles in Exeter have been demonstrating their skills to MP and cycling enthusiast Ben Bradshaw.
