Council backs construction of park and change site at Exeter Science Park

Councillors have given the go ahead for a "park and change" site to be built on the outskirts of Exeter.

Devon County Council’s Cabinet approved the construction of the £2.2 million scheme to the east of Exeter Science Park on Wednesday (11 December).

The site aims to relieve traffic congestion on the A30 Honiton Road and Moor Lane roundabout, enabling drivers to park on the edge of the city and then switch to sustainable forms of transport - bus, bicycle or car share – for their journey into the city.

Exeter Eagles BMX Club welcomes a new defibrillator thanks to a generous donation from award-winning housing developer, Burrington Estates New Homes.

The volunteer-run BMX club based in Marsh Barton, Exeter holds race events throughout the year with up to 200 riders competing on race days. The club is a hub for the local community, welcoming over 9000 visitors a year.

Travel Devon has joined forces with IKEA to help workers at its new Exeter superstore commute to work in a more sustainable and healthy way.

Discarded old bikes are being turned back into fit to ride machines thanks to an initiative in Exeter. Exeter City Council has teamed up with Exeter-based charity Ride On Cycling For All to get more and more people cycling more often. Exeter couple’s team effort helps Hospiscare re-cycle

Alphington retirees Peter and Mary Collins began volunteering at the Hospiscare Warehouse Shop on Trusham Road when it very first opened in 2012. Every Friday, Peter would repair donated furniture ready for selling in the shops and Mary sorted bags of clothes, sizing them, putting them on hangers then onto racks for distribution.

The West Side Neighbourhood Police Teams are holding a free bike security marking event on Sun 18th June from 10am - 12 noon at the Piazza Terracina, Exeter.

If you would like your bike marked and details stored with Bike Register then please pop along and see one of the team on the day. This is open to anyone city wide and beyond.

Always worth getting this done so if your bike is stolen and we find it then it gives us a better chance of locating the rightful owner.

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service’s bike advocate team have taken delivery of a new Triumph motorbike. The bike is part of the services road safety educational toolkit for educating and raising awareness with bikers.

Exeter cycle network approved

The principle of an integrated Exeter cycle network, linking up schools, new developments, the university, the Exeter and East Devon Growth point, and the city centre has been approved.

Devon County Council’s cabinet has given the greenlight to progressing plans for a series of high quality, multi-use routes around the city for use by residents, commuters, students and visitors.
