Urgent call for West Country COVID sufferers to volunteer for unique genetic research study

Scientists involved in a ground-breaking COVID-19 genetic study are urgently calling for people across the West Country who caught the virus but did not require hospital treatment to volunteer to help with their research.

For the past 12 months, a group of NHS doctors and scientists involved in the GenOMICC COVID-19 Study have been trying to find out why some people who had the virus became extremely ill and needed hospitalisation while others experienced fewer or no symptoms.

To do this, they’ve been analysing blood donated by volunteers from both groups of people to...

City 2 Bristol Rovers 0

Joel Randall scored his first senior goal for Exeter City as they beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 to top their Checkatrade.com Trophy group.

The Grecians went into the final game of the group knowing they had already qualified for the knockout stages, but also that only a win against Bristol Rovers in 90 minutes would be good enough to top the table.

And they rose to the challenge as Jonathan Forte flicked home Chiedozie Ogbene's low cross shortly into the second half before Randall added his strike eight minutes' from time.

Both teams named youthful sides for the game,...

Ricky Pellow says Exeter Chiefs must make the most of home advantage in this next fortnight, if they are to keep alive their dreams of retaining the Premiership Rugby Cup. The holders kicked off their campaign with a 22-22 draw away to Newcastle Falcons last Sunday, a result which - according to skills coach Pellow - offered both positives and negatives for the Devon club when he was picked through by the coaching team this week. Down 22-10 entering into the final quarter at Kingston Park, the Chiefs dug deep into their reserves to fashion a determined fightback that yielded two tries and...

35% of Exeter Dog Owners May Have Unintentionally Supported Organised Crime

An estimated 25% of UK puppies are mass farmed in appalling conditions, where the mother is forced to give birth to as many puppies as possible, as fast as she physically can.

They are taken away from the mother before the minimum recommended eight weeks, and kept in cramped cages, barely fed, never having human contact. The dogs can go on to develop health problems due to their upbringing, and may require significantly more care in later life. On average, dogs from puppy farms suffer from more frequent and worse health problems than responsibly bred dogs due to the conditions they...
