Leslie Blohm QC; Andrew Marsden and Glyn Edwards have been ranked in the ‘Chambers 100 UK Bar’, ranking the top 100 silks and barristers practising at the Bar of England and Wales.

Exeter Phoenix has announced that the Exeter Contemporary Open 2013 Audience Choice Award has been won by Max Cahn. The prestigious contemporary art exhibition, which opened on Friday 13 September, has seen hundreds of visitors vote for their favourite work. £14.2m funding to nurture next generation of arts and humanities researchers

The South, West and Wales Consortium, in which the University of Exeter is joined with seven other universities – Aberystwyth, Bath, Bath Spa, Bristol, Cardiff, Reading and Southampton – has been awarded £14.2 million funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) over the next five years to deliver postgraduate supervision, training and skills development from 2014.

The consortium is one of 11 new Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs) and seven Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) to have been awarded a total of £164m funding from the AHRC.

Devon business helps Olympic Legacy live on

Just over one year on from the Olympics, Aspects Pools, a local swimming pool provider, is doing their bit to carry on the Olympic legacy. The Devon-based outfit has just completed an innovative competition for the British Water Polo Community.

The competition challenged water polo teams to reach out to their local communities, and raise awareness of the sport. Bristol-based St. John’s Chambers, the largest set in the South West with over 80 members and seven silks, has been shortlisted as a finalist by legal directory Chambers UK for the ‘Regional Set of the Year’ award at the 2013 Chambers Bar Awards. The prestigious award ceremony announcing the winner will be held at The London Hilton on Park Lane on Thursday, 3 October 2013.

A debut goal by Sam Parkin rounded off an opening-day win for Exeter City against local rivals Bristol Rovers.

City had gone ahead initially in the second half through captain Danny Coles, who thundered a header into the net.

However the Gas were level soon after when Eliot Richards diverted a cross into the net with a smart run.
