Concern grows for missing Devon woman

Police have released two new images of 48-year-old Jayne Brocklehurst from Budleigh Salterton who has been missing since Saturday 8th August.

Jayne was last seen on Saturday evening at her family’s flat on Budleigh Salterton and is described as being a medium build and has mousey brown shoulder length hair.

Police Constable Liz Jarvis who is working on the search said: “Jayne had arrived from France around two weeks ago and had been visiting family in the area. Local searches continue in and around the costal paths in the Budleigh area.

Paul Lewis plays Beethoven in Budleigh

Paul Lewis born on 20th May 1972 is an English classical painist and will play Beethoven’s last three sonatas at St Peter’s Church, Budleigh Salterton on Saturday, 3rd October from 7.30pm. These are widely considered to be three of the most sublime, brilliant and audacious of his works for piano.

Paul’s father worked at the Liverpool docks and his mother was a local council worker; there were no musicians in the family background.

Over 70 musicians from Exeter School will be performing at St. Peter’s Church, Budleigh on Thursday 2 July at 7.30pm, with a feast of choral and instrumental music. This Concert will include Chamber Orchestra performing the Holst St Paul's Suite and the famous first movement from Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

Anyone for outdoor table tennis?

Anyone for table tennis? People are going batty in the parish of East Budleigh with Bicton now they have their own outdoor table.

The new table has come about after developers who built two new homes in the parish gave £3,450 to fund a sports facility in the community, as part of a Section 106 legal agreement with East Devon District Council.

When she was younger, Mrs Edna Millard worked as a demonstrator for the Max Factor cosmetics company.

Looking at her this week, as she celebrated her 100th birthday at home in Budleigh Salterton, you could be forgiven for wondering if she should be the face of Max Factor 2015!

Mrs Millard has been a tenant in Moorhaven for just under 25 years and is one of many people who enjoy the comfort of these manageable council-owned homes, fitted with a Home Safeguard alarm system in case of emergency.

Beach huts improvements get thumbs up

East Devon District Council cabinet has recommended that an extensive refurbishment and replacement programme be put in place to improve the current provision of its popular beach huts and chalets at Sidmouth, Exmouth, Budleigh Salterton, Seaton and Beer.

To ensure the economic viability and sustainability of the beach huts, as an enduring local amenity, a sinking fund of £19,000 will be established, which will enable new beach hut schemes to be created. It will also mean that old huts, which have reached the end of their life, can be replaced.
