Have you seen stolen Ford Cortina?

Police are appealing to the public to look out for a distinctive Ford Cortina stolen from Topsham over Christmas.

The fern green Mk3 Ford Cortina was left parked near to St Matthew’s Hall in Fore Street around 7.30pm on 23 December.

The owner returned around 2pm on Christmas Eve to find the car missing.

Now police are urging the public to keep an eye out for the car and report any sightings to them.

The car, valued at £1,000, is described as having patchy paintwork and the interior is in poor condition. It carries the registration number YTA 700K.

Tesla Motors brings supercharging to Exeter

Tesla Motors, manufacturer of the award-winning Model S electric saloon, has expanded its Supercharger network with the opening of a Supercharger station in Exeter.

Conveniently located off junction 30 of the M5, the Exeter Supercharger will be an integral component of UK routes and, along with the Bristol Supercharger, allows Model S owners to travel to and around the South West for free with Supercharger-enabled Model S.

Exeter is the latest location to join the world’s largest fast-charging network.

Electric Friday hits Exeter

People are being invited to ‘charge around’ Exeter as Electric Friday hits the city.

Exeter City Council has joined up with sponsors Westerly Exeter BMW to encourage more people to use electric cars.

On Friday (12 December), shoppers using the City Councils car parks will be able to find out more about Electric Cars, and charging facilities provided by the Council as well as an opportunity to see the new BMW i3 and i8, provided by charge point sponsors Westerly Exeter BMW.

Work starts on upgrading Devon County Show car parks

A major upgrade to the car parks at the Devon County Show is under way, following the situation at this year’s show, when heavy rain made the car parks unusable, so forcing the cancellation of the third day.

The work is being led and co-ordinated by the Devon County Agricultural Association and supported by the Environment Agency, Devon County Council, South West Highways and Mole Valley Farmers.

Geological surveys, subsoiling, infilling, levelling, harrowing and seeding have been carried out and the ground is already looking much better.

Throughout August, Devon and Cornwall Police in Partnership with TISPOL, the European Traffic Police Network, is focusing on excessive and inappropriate speed on the region’s roads. Prize-winning invention could reduce emissions

Students from the University of Exeter are celebrating after winning a national competition with their innovative system which could reduce the headache of searching for a parking space, and help reduce vehicle emissions.

Computer Science students Nicholas Sanders and Humphrey Shotton secured victory in the undergraduate category of the prestigious Raspberry Pi programming competition, held at the Science Museum in London.

Exeter students gear up for motorsports

The launch of this year’s Formula 1 season is only a matter of weeks away, but prestigious racing teams such as McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull aren’t the only ones undertaking crucial racing preparations.

A team of students from the University of Exeter are gearing up to take part in the world’s largest student motorsport competition, to be held in July.

The Engineering students will pit their skills and ingenuity against 114 other teams from 38 countries worldwide at the Formula Student competition, which will be held at the home of British motorsport, Silverstone.
