Today (June 1) marks the start of national Volunteers’ Week and Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity has revealed the latest figures about the value of time given freely given by its supporters.
In 2015 volunteers racked up more than 19,450 hours for the charity, which offers face-to-face support to anyone locally affected by cancer.
That’s worth an estimated £125,000 – a vital contribution to an organisation that offers all of its services free of charge, receives no Government funding and needs to raise £1.2 million every year to maintain them.
WESC held their charity golf day at Exeter Golf & Country Club on 12 May sponsored by ITEC. With a record 17 four-ball teams entering and over £7,000 raised, the Specialist Centre for Visual Impairment declared 2016 as their most successful charity golf day to date.

Nine well known members of the business community have been ‘jailed’ at Exeter Castle and have to raise a bail of £999 for Children’s Hospice South West in order to be released.
