TAUNTON Leisure – Exeter has been nominated by the general public for the national Great Outdoors Awards 2018 this month (October 2018).

The outdoor clothing and equipment specialist, which is on Fore Street, has been put forward by its customers for Independent Retailer of the Year.

Exeter climbers attempt to summit Everest... in one day

Climbers at The Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter will be attempting to climb the height of Everest on Friday 12th June as part of a fund raising day to support earthquake relief projects in Nepal.

7m climbing wall on water is UK first

This weekend Exeter’s canal basin will become the home to the UK’s first artificial climbing wall on water!

A 7 metre high structure is being built on a canal barge and will be floated into the water to provide the wall for the UK’s first inland deep water solo competition.

Staged by local climbing wall, The Quay Climbing Centre, the event has attracted over 40 of the UK and Europe’s top climbers together with over 160 ‘amateurs’ from across the country to compete in the two day event which takes place on the 30th and 31st August.

From gang fights via military discipline to paper lace - youth groups go on voyage of discovery

East Devon District Council's Community Development workers have taken their two youth groups on a series of horizon broadening day trips.

The first was a visit by 18 young people to a drama workshop in a studio at the University of Exeter. Six students and an experienced theatre facilitator helped the young people develop a piece of theatre that was performed to an audience at the end of the day.
