Police appeal after East Devon crash

At 15:53 hours on Sunday 11th June 2017, Police were notified of a two vehicle road traffic collision (RTC) at Heathfield Cross, Westhayes, near Colyford in East Devon.

The collision involved a white Iveco Daily Panel Van and a white Triumph Dayton 675R motorcycle. The Triumph was on the main A3052, heading from the Lyme Regis direction towards Colyford.

The Iveco was emerging from a minor road at Heathfield Cross. Weather and road conditions at the time were believed to be dry with good visibility.

It’s all child’s play for Colyford youngsters

Children from Colyford have chosen the design for an eagerly anticipated play area in the village.

Despite the size of Colyford - 707 people are on the electoral roll - it doesn’t have a public play area, but it will soon.

East Devon District Council and Colyton Parish Council have been working closely together to spend £24,000 on creating the play area. A total of £22,300 of this money has been contributed by developers through Section 106 funding for play which is given for every new home created in the parish. Learn food foraging in East Devon

East Devon District Council's Countryside team is planning a Family Foraging event on Saturday 19 September, from 10am to 12.30pm at Holyford Woods, near Colyford.

Basic foraging techniques will be demonstrated during a walk in the woods, followed by a taster session around the campfire - weather permitting.

Tiptoe through the Bluebells

Lovers of the spectacular annual display of bluebells at Holyford Woods near Colyford will be delighted to hear that Bluebell Day is back, thanks to Mr and Mrs Elsey at Holyford Farm.

The celebration of the woods will take place on Sunday 3 May, and will begin at 6am with a Dawn Chorus walk starting from the car park at the top of Seaton Down Hill, near Tower Services.

Other activities during the day will run between 11am and 4pm at Holyford Farm, and will include guided walks, wildlife activities, craft and plant stalls and delicious cream teas on the lawn.
