Doctors lose their trousers for ELF

Doctors in Cullompton hope their colleague's hospital stay will be a short one and have pledged to raise money for charity in his absence.

Dr Neil Rushton and Dr James Rowbury, who practice at College Surgery, have opted against wearing trousers until Dr Jeremy Jacobs has completed treatment at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital – which could be after winter.

Fire crews busy over Bank Holiday weekend

Fire crews have been busy during the Bank Holiday weekend attending a variety of incidents.

At 0.51am today, one appliance from Axminster was sent to Cridlake after calls reporting a shed on fire.

Crews found a garden shed well alight, with the fire spreading to an adjoining fence and greenhouse.

One hose reel jet, small tools and thermal imaging camera were used in extinguishing the fire. The shed, fence and green house were all completely destroyed.

17-year-old boy airlifted after car overturns on M5 near Cullompton

A 17-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after the car he was travelling rolled on the M5 southbound near Cullompton.

The collision happened just before 11am today (Monday 19 August) about one mile past Junction 28.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene.

Five people were injured in the silver Toyota Avensis, which is registered to Pontefract, West Yorkshire.

A 17-year-old boy has been taken by air ambulance to Derriford with a head injury. The other four occupants of the car have been taken to RD&E with minor injuries....

Grand Western Canal to host charity walk

Families are being invited to the Grand Western Canal on Sunday 19 May to take part in the annual sponsored walk in aid of CLIC Sargent.

It is the 23rd year of the event in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. The walk covers 10 miles of the Grand Western Canal towpath, from Tiverton Canal Basin to Burlescombe village hall. Police appeal for information following Cullompton burglary

Police are appealing for information following a burglary at a house in Cullompton, which took place between 6.15pm and 10.15pm on Saturday, 16 February 2013.

The property was entered and numerous items stolen, including a pair of drop earrings worth £900, a Sharp video camcorder, valued at £200, a red Samsung digital camera, worth £200 and an HP Photosmart Series 420 camera, valued at £179.

Cullompton’s new Work Hub ready to ‘break the mould’

Devon County Council is supporting the third of Devon’s work hub projects which is opening in Cullompton on Friday 18th January.

The Hayridge Work Hub is hosting a ‘Jelly’ Event from 10am – 4pm to showcase the facilities on offer and give visitors the opportunity to meet the team, tour the building and meet other potential work hub users.
