PaddleBoat Theatre Company has joined forces with Exeter Deaf Academy to create an enriched production of ‘A Little Man’s Holiday’ using non-verbal communication and British Sign Language.

During a successful run of shows at Devon libraries last summer, PaddleBoat Theatre Company encountered many children in the audience with hearing impairments, Asperger’s and learning difficulties which inspired them to make the show more accessible and Deaf friendly.

Students Discover During BSL Celebration Week

Students have been celebrating the anniversary of the recognition of BSL as an official UK language with a week of activities. This included a visit to the local museum and motivating talks from four Deaf role models. After the cosy day on Friday spent in our pyjamas, the total we raised is in, £110.55! Thanks to all who ate cake, had their hair done, played ping pong and guessed the baby photos. Our staff were once so adorable weren’t they?
