Tributes paid to city councillor

Tributes have been paid to Exeter City Councillor Judy Pattison who died late last week at her Exeter home.

Cllr Pattison, 70, was the Labour Party member for Mincinglake and Whipton.

She was elected to office in Exeter in 2018, having previously served as a councillor in Camden in London. She was Mayor of Camden in 2002/3.

The Union Flag will be lowered at The Guildhall and Civic Centre and tributes will be paid at tomorrow’s Council meeting along with a minute’s silence.

Tributes have been paid to ‘Mr Exeter’ Ron Crabb BEM, a much-loved and well-known personality who served as a Mace Sergeant at Exeter Guildhall for 22 years.

Ron died on Monday following a short illness. He was 87 years old and during his time as Mace Sergeant he served a total of 23 Mayors and Lord Mayors and in January was made a Freeman of the City. Man found dead in Exeter identified

An man who was found dead at a property on Mount Pleasant Road in Exeter has been identified as 31-year-old Daniel Sandu.

Police were notified at around 5.50am on Friday 12 January 2018 to the address in Exeter. The man has been formally identified and his next of kin are aware.

The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.

The 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been bailed until the 9th of February 2018.

Tribute paid to teenagers who died after collapsing in Plymouth nightclub

Tributes have been paid to teenagers Aaron Reilly and Joshua Brock who both tragically died after collapsing in Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth.

Police were informed by ambulance at around 1.40am on Saturday 9 December of two men unconscious at Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth. Aaron and Josh, both 19-years-old later died at hospital.

Police investigate suspected drug-related death of two Devon teenagers

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of two Devon teenagers in Plymouth.

Police were informed by ambulance at around 1.40am on Saturday 9 December of two men unconscious at Pryzm nightclub in Plymouth.

Two 19-year-old men, one from Okehampton and one from Newton Abbot were taken to Derriford Hospital where they both later died.

Next of kin have been informed, but formal ID for the pair has yet to have taken place.

An 18-year-old man is currently in police custody and awaits questioning in relation to this matter.

Peregrine falcon dies of suspected poisoning in Devon

Officers are investigating an incident after being contacted by staff at Glendinning Quarry in Ashburton, on Tuesday 15 August, following reports of an injured Peregrine falcon.

The falcon had been located on the floor of the quarry which is home to a breeding pair of Peregrine falcons.

Devon and Cornwall Police Wildlife Crime Officer, PC Josh Marshall, sought that the juvenile Peregrine falcon was given the immediate care it required. However, the bird died the next day.

Grief-stricken Ozie Gilbert today told how he watched in horror as a friend suffered fatal injuries in a fall from a landmark Exeter statue.

Ozie was on a night out with three friends when tragedy struck.

He said one of the group, Tom Callaway, was attempting to place a traffic cone on the top of the General Sir Redvers Buller statue at the junction of Hele Road and New North Road when he fell backwards.

The accident happened at 12.30am on Sunday morning and the 18-year-old was pronounced dead at 5.15am.
