Ever wished for a non-screen alternative for your kids that was equally handy but that tapped into the greatest entertainment resource of all: imagination?

Well, Exeter-based mum of three, Kate de Bass, felt the same way and has set about creating a solution.

The result is Pipity: a fledgling range of ‘Portable, Packable Play-pals’ for kids aged 6-plus to inspire and encourage imaginative and creative play, at-home or on-the-go.

All the products – dinky little A5 activity cases, portfolios and activity books – have been dreamed up and designed by Kate.

New cooking courses at Trill Farm

The Trill Trust, the educational charity based at Trill Farm, in Axminster has just added five new one-day cookery and butchery courses to its programme this year, each one with distinct focus on preparing seasonally available produce from the farm: Trill Summer Tapas, Summer BBQ Cooking Class, Fermenting and Preserving, Lamb Butchery, and Trill’s Garden Christmas.

Each course will be led by Trill Farm’s chef-in-residence, Chris Onions, who works his daily magic in The Old Dairy Kitchen, using the farm as a class room and larder to demonstrate the abundance of good food available...

Scouts from Devon were honoured by international adventurer Chief Scout, Bear Grylls at Windsor Castle for gaining their Queen’s Scouts Awards on Sunday 26th April 2015.

Bear was joined by Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester GCVO, who is cousin of HM The Queen.

The Queen’s Scout Award is the highest honour in Scouting and is awarded for outstanding personal achievement.

Barman threatened in golf club robbery

Police are appealing for information following a robbery in Crediton.

At around 10.30pm on Tuesday 28th April a robbery occurred at the Crediton golf club, located at Hookway near Crediton.

The offender entered the premises and threatened the barman, forcing him to open the safe.

He left with a number of safe bags, blue or re in colour containing cash.

The barman was not injured but naturally very shaken following the incident.

The offender is described as being, a white man aged in his 30’s or early 40’s, approximately 6’4” in height, stocky build,...

Exeter Chiefs' Chris Bentley crowned omelette champ

Eight business people from around Exeter took part in the Kirk Hills Omelette Challenge, the second year that it’s run at the Exeter Festival of South West Food and Drink.

The Challenge was judged by Michael Caines MBE who showed the contestants how it should be done with a time of 28 seconds. Paul Nero from Radio Exe was compere for the event.

Keith Biggs from OTB Eveling was defending champion and looked like he would win again this year with the best time in the initial round. However there was an ‘egg off’ between Keith and the second fastest Chris Bentley from Exeter...

Teignbridge to host free landlord open evening

Teignbridge District Council is holding an open evening for new and experienced landlords.

The event brings experts and information providers together under one roof so local landlords have all the information they need to run tenancies effectively.

It takes place on Thursday May 14 at Old Forde House, Brunel Road, Newton Abbot from 5pm-9pm.
