Join Dartmoor National Park Ecologist Naomi Barker on a walk in the Haytor area to see if you can get a glimpse of one of spring's most evocative birds. Cuckoos have suffered a huge population decline in recent years and in many parts of the country their distinctive call is no longer heard. Naomi will guide you on a fascinating walk in which you will learn more about the work being done to find out what is causing the population decline in this species.

You will also learn about other birds nesting on the moor, such as skylarks and yellowhammers.

Bell ringers celebrate 90th anniversary

Church bell ringers from across Devon will be coming together at Exeter Cathedral on Saturday (25 April) to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Devon Association of Ringers.

Bellringers are being invited from all over Devon to come to Exeter to ring for this historic event.

The bells will ring out across the city starting at 10.30am with a 10 bell competition, followed by an 8 bell competition in the afternoon. Concurrently a 6 bell competition will take place at St Petrock’s.

Missing man may be in Exeter area

Police are renewing their appeal for the public’s help in locating Gary Knight, 52, from Dawlish, who has been missing for over a week and may be in the Exeter area.

Gary (pictured) went missing from the Haldon Terrace area of Dawlish at around 11.30am on Sunday 12 April and officers are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

The last confirmed sighting of him was in the Gresham House Inn, Dawlish, on the night he went missing.

Officers have been searching and making enquiries in the Dawlish, Exeter and Torquay areas, but so far have been unable to locate...

CCTV appeal after Newton Abbot assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Newton Abbot have released CCTV images of three men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

A 46-year-old local man suffered serious head and facial injuries as a result of an unprovoked attack on Sherborne Road on Saturday 4 April at around 9.10pm.

The victim was hit in the face by a group of men and fell to the floor near the taxi rank between Courtenay Street and Sherborne Road.

He was taken by ambulance to Derriford hospital where he received medical treatment before being discharged a few days...

Seven Devon schools achieved well-earned recognition for their outstanding work with school meals and food education on Wednesday (15 April) as they received awards from the national school food programme, the Food for Life Partnership (FFLP).

Detectives in Devon and Cornwall have commissioned innovative 3D printing technology for the first time to help secure a murder conviction.

Teenager Alex Peguero Sosa was killed while on a night out in Kingsbridge last July after Lee Dent stabbed him in the neck with a beer bottle.

Pinhoe Guides are holding a Spring Fayre to raise funds for their trip to Adelboden in Switzerland during the summer.
