Exeter Philharmonic Choir has performed concerts in the City every year since its foundation in 1846. It continues to delight audiences with its performances of both well loved and lesser known works under Andrew Millington, Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral and the Choir’s current Director of Music.

City Council expresses sympathy to relatives and friends of homeless woman killed by a falling tree

Exeter City Council has expressed its sympathy to relatives and friends of the woman killed by a falling tree at the weekend.

As reported by The Exeter Daily, a 21-year-old woman, who the police are hoping to official identify today, was killed on Saturday night when a tree fell on the tent that she was sleeping in Western Way, Exeter.

Councillor Rob Hannaford, Lead Councillor for Housing and Community Involvement, said: "This is a tragic death and our thoughts go out to everyone who knew this lady.

"The number of homeless people is unfortunately high in Exeter....

Witnesses sought for road traffic collision near Stover

Officers from Newton Abbot are seeking witnesses following a serious injury road traffic collision near Stover.

Police received the call shortly before 5.25 pm on Saturday 17th November 2012 reporting that a red Mazda 626 had been in collision with a pedestrian on the A382 between Churchills Roundabout and the Stover Vauxhall dealer at a private house called Whitehall Lodge. The casualty, an 86-year-old man from Newton Abbot was taken to Derriford where his condition was described as critical. Skirt steaks with red currant, shallot and port sauce

Skirt has traditionally been only used for slow cooked dishes, but with a little care this relatively inexpensive piece of beef makes the juiciest steak. I recently cooked it for a couple on holiday in Devon and they raved about it. Serve it with roasted potato wedges, and whatever green vegetable is in season. The redcurrant sauce worked really well with the meat. Onglot, which is very similar to skirt, can be cooked in the same way.
