Natwest Venus Awards - nominations close at midnight tonight!

The nominations for the NatWest Venus Awards in Devon will close at midnight tonight, with hundreds of nominations sent in so far.

This is the first year the Venus Awards have launched in Devon, following three successful years in neighbouring counties.

The Venus Awards recognise the efforts and talents of local business women, and are split into 11 categories covering all aspects of business and personal achievement.

Crediton Festival

Donkey Dudes at the Donkey Sanctuary

If you’ve got a budding donkey groom in the family, why not bring them along for a special one-on-one session with one of the donkeys in our events team. A 20 minute session will introduce under 16s to the basics of donkey care, after which the Donkey Dudes will leave with a certificate detailing what they’ve learnt.

Not suitable for children under 5 years old.

Booking desirable, first come first served bewteen 10.30am and 1pm on the following dates 26 May, 28 May and 30 May.

£5 per person for a 20 minute session.

Exeter-based Scomis achieves new accreditation to deliver ICT support

Exeter-based Scomis, providers of ICT services and training to the education sector, has successfully achieved Capita Accreditation for a further two years, enabling them to continue providing and supporting Capita software to approximately 550 schools and colleges across the South West.

Scomis is a service unit of Devon County Council.

Phil Neal, Managing Director of Capita Education renewed the accreditation at Scomis’s Regional Training Centre at Great Moor House, Sowton, which opened last year.

Happy nappies is the name of the game this week as the Devon Real Nappy Project joins in the celebrations for Real Nappy Week (15-21 April).

Devon County Council is seeking the views of local residents on the future of transport in Kingskerswell.

The South Devon Link Road (SDLR) has now received central and local government funding. Preparatory work is underway and the main works are scheduled to be completed in December 2015.

Motorists urged to drive safely through roadworks to cut death and injury toll

The Highways Agency is urging drivers to take extra care and obey speed limits at roadworks in Devon and Cornwall, to prevent deaths and injurie among both road users and road workers.

Sunny smiles all round as Elizabeth Road play park opens

Hundreds of local children and parents came along to the official re-opening of Elizabeth Road Play Park in Seaton on Saturday 6 April.

Mayor of Seaton Councillor Peter Burrows, who was heralded in magnificently by David Craner, Seaton Town Crier, cut the ribbon and declared the enhanced play area open and ready for fun.

The new equipment in the play area contains £42,000 of improvements including a new Olympic basket swing, climbing walls and frames, spinning swings, a rota roka, and many more exciting features for children to enjoy.
