Fuel Poverty levels are high in Devon, and whilst projects like Healthy Homes for Wellbeing, run by Exeter Community Energy (ECOE) have been tackling this issue head on with their dedicated service, there is still a high level of demand for support .

The Winter Warmth campaign from ECOE, now in its second year, highlights the issues of fuel poverty and hard to heat homes faced by local residents each and every winter. The Exeter Chiefs Foundation has donated £10,000 to local charity Veterans With Dogs to enable it to purchase a dedicated vehicle. The fully branded van was unveiled at a launch attended by Trustees Marc Astley and Keiron Northcott from the Exeter Chiefs Foundation and Craig MacLellan, chief executive of Veterans With Dogs.

Exeter to stream virtual Remembrance Sunday Service

Exeter will stream a virtual Remembrance Sunday Service on Sunday morning.

The Service will be streamed live on Facebook for people to watch and will include the laying of wreaths by various dignitaries, which have been filmed in advance.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Exeter City Council and Devon County Council supported by the 6th Battalion of the Rifles, made the hard decision not to conduct a live public service in the city for the safety of all those that would attend.

Director of Public Health Devon calls for one more big effort to stop the second wave of coronavirus

As Devon enters a second national lockdown, the county's Director of Public Health is making a last appeal for one more effort and urging everyone to “Act now to stop the virus in its tracks” and help prevent local health services from being overwhelmed this winter.

A photo of Exeter Quay on Christmas morning has been chosen to be included in RGB Building Supplies’ ‘Love where you live’ 2021 calendar, which will be sold to raise funds for Devon Air Ambulance and Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.

RGB had asked residents of the south west to send in photographs that celebrate the diverse scenery of the region, and the photo, taken by Kate Coldrick, is one of 12 entries the builders merchant picked for the calendar. Health experts hope a new online webinar series will inspire people to make changes to protect the planet and human health.

The free Waking up to the planetary health emergency events, from the University of Exeter, will allow people to learn why the health and wellbeing of all future generations depend on good planetary health.

People who take part in the events, held on six consecutive Thursdays during November and December, can engage with experts to learn about diet, food production and the link between the climate emergency and mental health.
