With a network of 14 volunteer doctors responding to medical emergencies across the county, the winter months can be challenging due to...

Over the last few months Stagecoach has worked hard to restore frequent services across the region, in many cases to service levels in place prior to the COVID19 pandemic.
Sniffer dogs are successfully being trained to sniff out Covid-19 on humans and according to a leading security firm their use could become mainstream in Exeter by Easter 2021.

Exeter people planning on dressing up this Hallowe’en are being urged to void having a ‘sight-mare’ by looking after their eyes.
Exeter Specsavers store staff are hoping that fancy dress revellers don’t play a trick on their eyes by using costume contact lenses and make-up, and instead treat them to the care they deserve this Saturday.
Scott McGowan, ophthalmic director at the store, says: ‘While novelty contact lenses may seem like a perfect costume addition, they can damage eyes – especially if not handled in the right way.
As bicycle use spikes during local lockdowns, drivers need to be aware of the 1.5 metre rule which encourages motorists to make room and protect cyclists.
During the first 30 days of lockdown in March, the Department for Transport (DfT) found that cycling fatalities were more than double the number compared to the same periods from 2015-18 even though the level of vehicle traffic had dropped to 36% of its pre-lockdown level.
Of the 15 cyclists in the UK that lost their lives from 23 March – 22 April all but two incidents did not involve a motor vehicle.
The expansion of Exeter’s Co Bikes, the UK’s first on-street city electric bike hire scheme, continues with three new dockless sites for the city.
The new stations, which need no fixed infrastructure for bikes to be locked into, are being trialled at the junction of Magdalen Road and College Road, in Digby Park & Ride and outside Chapel Platt Surgery in Topsham.
Instead of a docking station, the bikes are rented and returned within a virtual geofenced space. Customers simply push the Co Bike into, or as close as possible to, the rack then lock the bike and end their...
