New Exeter base for Devon & Cornwall Food Agency

Established by local churches and other organisations in Plymouth in 2010, the DCFA now has a working base in Exeter too – opening officially on 12th October 2012. This exciting community project collects good quality in-date food that would otherwise be incinerated or buried. It then re-distributes to local community groups and centres working with people affected by food poverty – because of unemployment, low wages, homelessness, welfare changes, etc..

Hillside Foods make a delightful complement

I knew Jay and Will Allan, brothers and partners in speciality food business Hillside as they grew up in Exeter, and have watched the progress of their company with admiration. Established in 2009 the business has grown from supplying local restaurants and farm shops in its early days to supplying the hospitality areas at the London Olympics this summer.

In their formative years Will and Jay spent time at their grandparents’ Somerset smallholding and remember with pleasure harvesting produce from the farm and helping their grandmother create wonderful home-cooked dishes....

A new cocktail was created on behalf of Chartered Accountants, Haines Watts at an exclusive awards ceremony and exhibition opening at Exeter Phoenix.

Sponsors of the main £1000 award for the National Open Contemporary Art Award at Exeter Phoenix for the 7th consecutive year, the innovative accountants wanted to put a new twist on this year’s pre-view event by running a competition to name the new cocktail inspired by the artwork on display.
