Nearly 1,200 people attended Exeter Hospiscare’s Light Up a Life remembrance service at the city’s cathedral.
The Dean of Exeter Cathedral, the Very Reverend Jonathan Draper welcomed the congregation saying the cathedral was invented for services like this. While the Rt Revd Sarah Mullally, Bishop of Crediton and a vice-president of Hospiscare outlined the local charity’s work and said the care given would not be possible without the support of so many people and thanked the congregation for attending.

Welsh singer Aled Jones MBE is set to wow audiences across the UK in 2016 as he embarks on a 22-date Cathedral tour, including an evening at Exeter Cathedral.
The household name will visit cathedrals in England, Scotland and his home country of Wales on a series of dates throughout May and June, culminating in a very special ‘home-coming’ show in his home-town of Bangor on July 2.

This Wednesday (16th December) sees the beginning of Exeter Cathedral’s free lunchtime carol services for shoppers and city workers.
The popular events, which attract hundreds of people each year, give visitors the opportunity to take the place of the Cathedral Choir and sing their favourite Christmas carols accompanied by the mighty Cathedral Organ.
“Lunchtime Carols” begins at 13.00 on Wednesday 16th, Saturday 19th and Tuesday 22nd December. Each service lasts around an hour and admission is free with a retiring collection.

Exeter Cathedral is embarking on an exciting new project to help raise money to protect and conserve its buildings for future generations. In February 2016 the first of over 300,000 LEGO bricks will be laid on a model commissioned by the Cathedral team. And everyone is invited to be part of the build team - each brick can be placed on the model for a donation of £1 per brick. The final model will be an impressive 3m long, 1.6m wide and 1m high!
