Armand targets rapid response

Don Armand believes it won't take much to help Exeter Chiefs rediscover their winning formula, after they slipped to a rare home defeat against Worcester at the weekend. The visiting Warriors became the first side since Bath in October 2016 to emerge victorious from Sandy Park, edging out the reigning Aviva Premiership champions 6-5 in a low-scoring Round 14 encounter. Defeat for the Chiefs, coupled with a win for Saracens over Newcastle Falcons, means Exeter's lead at the summit of the standings has now been reduced to just two points. Next best are Wasps, who themselves maintained third...

Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, has given its 650-strong pilot workforce a brand new look that complements the striking purple uniforms of its cabin crew.

The new navy uniform for its pilots features a stylishly fitted jacket with distinctive platinum epaulettes and stripes that clearly designate the rank of Captain (four stripes), Senior First Officer (three) and First Officer (two). Designed with full crew participation, the brief was for it to be a quality, comfortable, user-friendly outfit to better reflect the airline’s forward looking image than the previous...

A bit like London buses, nothing for ages, then all of a sudden you get a flurry.

Well, it’s the same for Worcester Warriors, who having seen off Exeter Chiefs in the Anglo-Welsh Cup last month, then repeated the dose by becoming the first side to win an Aviva Premiership game at Sandy Park since Bath prospered back in October 2016.

Not since the Chiefs were elevated into English rugby’s top tier back in 2010 have Worcester tasted a league victory against Rob Baxter’s side - whilst you have to go all the way back to 2004, the days of the old County Ground, to note their...

Chiefs side to face Worcester Warriors

Rob Baxter says his Exeter Chiefs side are facing a pivotal month ahead as they look to strength their position at the summit of the Aviva Premiership. The reigning champions head into tomorrow’s Round 14 battle against visiting Worcester Warriors at Sandy Park (2pm), looking to build on their five-point advantage over next-best Saracens at the top of the table. Having used the past fortnight in the Anglo-Welsh Cup to not only recharge a number of his frontline stars, Baxter has also seen others first-team stars come to the fore as Devon’s finest progressed into the last four of the...

Waldrom to leave the Exeter Chiefs

Thomas Waldrom has today confirmed he is to leave the Exeter Chiefs at the end of the current 2017/18 season.

The free-scoring No.8, who has scored 50 tries in 91 appearances for the club to date, says the time has now come for him to return home to his native New Zealand with his family.

His departure after four seasons with the Chiefs will undoubtedly be felt by everyone at Sandy Park, particularly given his outstanding form since arriving from Aviva Premiership rivals Leicester Tigers in 2014, but he insists he still has plenty to play for between now and the end of the...

Chiefs book semi-final slot

A week ago it appeared Exeter's Anglo-Welsh dream was hanging by a thread following their defeat at Worcester. Tonight, it's alive and kicking as the Chiefs booked themselves a home semi-final against Newcastle Falcons with this seven-try victory over visiting Saracens.

Having surrendered top spot to Harlequins heading into the final round of pool games, the odds were seemingly staked against Devon's finest with the Londoners needing to collect just a solitary point from their own trip to Northampton Saints on Friday night to ensure they would be the side to advance from Pool 2....

Although Exeter’s Anglo-Welsh Cup hopes remain in the balance, Chiefs skills coach Ricky Pellow insists his side will be going ‘all-out’ for victory when they play host to Saracens at Sandy Park tomorrow (3pm).

Last weekend’s 31-21 defeat at Worcester Warriors saw the Devonians surrender top spot in their pool to Harlequins, who tonight travel to Northampton Saints knowing they need just a point to advance into the last four at the expense of the Chiefs.

That said, the Saints themselves need a victory to thrust them into the last four and Pellow is hopeful the Midlanders...

FORCE funds new chemotherapy service

Cancer patients in West Devon are to be offered chemotherapy treatment in Okehampton for the first time, thanks to funding from Exeter-based FORCE Cancer Charity.

The service will be available every Wednesday between 10am and 4pm at Okehampton Hospital from February 21.

FORCE already offers regular support and information sessions at Castle Ham Lodge in Okehampton and has set aside money from a legacy to pay for this new and important weekly service in the town.

The money is funding specialist nurses from the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital to administer some of...

Baxter signs Argentinian international

Exeter Chiefs Director of Rugby Rob Baxter says he is "excited" what Santiago Cordero can bring after he today agreed a contract with the Devon club until the end of the season. With Baxter's options in the back division somewhat restricted currently due to injuries and Six Nations call-ups, the Chiefs boss has identified the Argentinian international as a man who can not only enhance his squad, but who can also offer proven quality and experience entering into the business end of the season. The 24-year-old, who can play either wing or full-back, arrives at Sandy Park with 33 caps and 11...

Worcester Warriors 31 Exeter Chiefs 21

Exeter’s hopes of advancing in this season’s Anglo-Welsh Cup were dealt a potentially fatal blow as Worcester Warriors took the spoils in a high-scoring encounter at Sixways.

Ricky Pellow’s Chiefs outfit started the day top of the pile in Pool Two, but this five-try loss, coupled with Harlequins easily defeating Scarlets, means qualification hopes are now out of their hands.

A bonus point victory at home to Saracens is imperative next week, but even then that may not be enough as it would require Quins’ needing to slip up against Northampton Saints in their final pool...
