Exeter Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs 8 Leinster 18

You don’t win titles by chance, especially when it comes to Europe, and Leinster underlined just why they are one of the best in the business, inflicting defeat on rivals Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park.

Almost a year to the day since Bordeaux-Begles emerged victorious from fortress Sandy Park, so it was the turn of the Irish province to experience the same winning feeling against Rob Baxter’s men.

Leo Cullen’s outfit produced not only a victorious display in deepest Devon, but a streetwise one at that, claiming tries through Johnny Sexton and Jack Conan, together with...

Chiefs side to face Leinster

Rob Baxter says his Exeter Chiefs side are looking forward to "challenging themselves" in their bid to establish the club amongst Europe's elite.

Whereas in previous years the Chiefs have been guilty of not turning up to the party until it's in full swing, there has been no such issue this time around with Devon's finest recording notable victories over Glasgow Warriors (home) and Montpellier (away) during the opening rounds of this season's Champions Cup.

Like the Chiefs, though, Sunday's visitors Leinster have also enjoyed a stellar start, bettering the Premiership...

Exeter Chiefs 42 Bath Rugby 29

f you wanted a measure of just how far Exeter Chiefs have come in the past year, then this display from the reigning Aviva Premiership champions could not have painted a better picture.

Cast your mind back to October 2016 - the last time Exeter Chiefs played host to Bath - and it was the visitors who emerged from a titanic tussle victors thanks to a last-gasp score from Semesa Rokoduguni.

Fast forward to modern day and the difference between these two Westcountry rivals was like ‘Night & Day’. For an hour at least, everything Rob Baxter's side did was near perfection,...

Chiefs side to face Bath

It’s a result that still irks one or two at Sandy Park, but it was to prove a pivotal moment in Exeter’s title-winning campaign last season.

Having controlled large parts of their home encounter with Bath last October, the Chiefs were subsequently floored by a crafty sucker punch from their Westcountry rivals, when Fijian flyer Semesa Rokoduguni strolled over for a winning try deep into added on time.

It was a bitter pill to swallow for Rob Baxter’s side in the immediate aftermath. However, it would be the last time he and his side would taste defeat on home soil in the...

Premiership Rugby champion, Jack Yeandle, returns to his QE roots

On Monday 27th November, Premiership Rugby star and Ex QE Student, Jack Yeandle came back to Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton to deliver a Rugby Masterclass.

As part of QE’s afterschool Rugby Club, Jack led the session with QE’s Rugby stars of the future. Jack also reminisced about the start of his Rugby playing career representing QE. Students found it fascinating to hear him speak of the last game that he played for the school, on the Barnfield pitch against Torrington school, as a Full back rather than his current position as a hooker!

Colin Skinner, PE Team leader...

Saracens 18 Exeter Chiefs 20

Just as Sandy Park remains a fortress for the Exeter Chiefs, so Allianz Park is regarded as just the same for European champions Saracens.

Undefeated on their own patch for 21 months, it took a monumental effort from Rob Baxter’s side to emerge victorious from this brutal Aviva Premiership contest with a priceless four points.

The victory, Exeter’s seventh of the campaign, not only ensured the reigning English champions remain top of the pile after nine rounds but, more importantly, they are now five points ahead of Mark McCall’s side, who are next best in the standings on...

Exeter Chiefs 31 Harlequins 17

Reigning champions Exeter Chiefs reclaimed pole position in this season's Aviva Premiership by seeing off visiting Harlequins at Sandy Park.

Far from their best showing of the season, Rob Baxter's side did more than enough to collect all five points and send the Londoners back to the capital with scant reward for their workmanlike efforts in the Westcountry.

Wingers Lachie Turner and Olly Woodburn collected a try apiece for the Devonians, while lock Jonny Hill ensured the bonus point by dotting down twice in the second period as the Chiefs collected their sixth success of...
