Exeter City have signed striker Ryan Swan on a deal until the end of the season. The former UCD (University of College Dublin) forward put pen to paper on a contract at St James Park having impressed on a trial at the club in November. The 20-year-old started his football career at Tolka Rovers and made his League of Ireland bow with Bray Wanderers, where he became friends with current City player Pierce Sweeney. Exeter City remain sixth in League Two after they fought back from a goal down to draw with Stevenage at home.

EXETER City Football Club will be saying ‘no to homophobia’ at its home game with Stevenage (Saturday 18 February; kick off 3pm). The match has been designated as the Club’s annual ‘Football v Homophobia’ fixture and a number of initiatives to mark the day have been organised by the Exeter City Supporters’ Trust and its One Game One Community (OGOC) Group and the Club’s Football in the Community charity. Exeter City’s 12-game unbeaten run came to an end at Home Park on Saturday as they were beaten 3-0 by local rivals Plymouth Argyle.

The Grecians were two goals down at the break with Matty Kennedy and Ryan Taylor scoring the goals for the Pilgrims, but the Grecians had plenty of chances to get back into the match with Troy Brown heading against the bar and Reuben Reid sending another effort just past the post.

It was a record-breaking afternoon at Exeter City as they made seven wins a row, with a 4-0 win over Crewe Alexandra, to stay fourth in the League Two table.

City’s previous longest winning streak in a season had been six in a row, set in 1904/05 season and repeated in 1932/33 and 1976/77.

Added to that David Wheeler also scored for the seventh consecutive match, which broke a club record set by Henry Poulter in the 1932/33 campaign.

Grecians stretch their unbeaten run to 10 games

Exeter City moved into the play-off places for the first time this season as David Wheeler scored the only goal in a 1-0 away win at Portsmouth.

It was City’s 10th victory on the road this campaign – an away record that no team in the Football League can better – and the eighth clean sheet in 10 matches.

Luke Croll extends loan deal with Exeter City

Luke Croll has extended his loan with Exeter City until the end of the season. Croll, 22, joined the Grecians on August 31 and has played 12 times for the club this season. The Crystal Palace defender has picked up four clean sheets during that time with his impressive performances at the centre of defence. Croll’s loan deal runs until May 6 but can be extended if the Grecians are in the play-offs.

Exeter City’s Ollie Watkins has been nominated for the League Two player-of-the-month award for December.

Ollie, who celebrated his 21st birthday on December 30, had a month to remember as he netted five goals in four games.

He started the month off with an impressive performance against Cheltenham Town where he helped set up City’s second goal in a 3-1 victory by crossing the ball in for David Wheeler to fire home from close range.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has been nominated for the League Two manager-of-the-month award having led the Grecians to three wins and a draw from their four games in December.
