Residents from the Mid-Devon village of Clyst Hydon near Cullompton, are celebrating the news that their cherished local pub, the Five Bells Inn , has been saved from closure following a month of strong campaigning.

Paul Parnell, owner and landlord of the hugely successful Jack in the Green pub and restaurant at Rockbeare has acquired the lease to run the Five Bells Inn through an arrangement with Exeter-based property consultants Grenadier Estates . Taxi checks in Exeter and East Devon ensure a safe journey

Five taxi cabs have been prohibited from being used following a two-day operation carried out by Devon & Cornwall Police in Exeter and East Devon.

Police Officers completed an operation with their partners in VOSA (The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency), Immigration and HM Revenue and Customs Fuel Testing, stopping a total of 50 vehicles between Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd February 2013 in Exmouth, Exeter and Honiton.

Police seek witnesses after 18-year-old assaulted in Exeter

Police in Exeter are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man sustained head injuries following an assault, which took place between 11pm on Friday 8th February and 0.40am on Saturday 9th February near to The Foyer on Commercial Road.

Two men aged 20 and 21 years have been charged with grievous bodily harm and appeared at Exeter Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 11th February 2013.
