Passed peacefully away at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, Wonford on 4th January 2014, aged 89 years.

A much loved husband and cousin who will be sadly missed. Funeral service at St Andrews Church, Cullompton on Wednesday 29th January at 10.30am followed by burial in Cullompton Cemetery.

On January 2 2014, passed peacefully away in the care of Coppelia House, Moretonhampstead, Margaret aged 95 years, late of Heavitree, Exeter.

Funeral service at Heavitree Parish Church on Tuesday 14 January at 2.30pm followed by private committal.

Luke Friend performs to a sell out crowd at The Exeter Daily Auditorium

Devon's X Factor golden boy, Luke Friend performed to a sell out crowd in The Exeter Daily Auditorium at The Exeter Phoenix last night. Nearly 500 of Luke's adoring fans, better known as his Friendies, came along to see him perform with some arriving at the venue as early as 11am.

From start to finish the atmosphere at the show was electric. Already Luke has grown and developed as a musician and as an artist, this was clear to everyone in the crowd.

Bid to cut accidents at work starts next week

Businesses on a busy trading estate in Exeter are being offered free health and safety training in a bid to reduce the number of accidents at work.

Exeter City Council is teaming up with the Health and Safety Executive and other partners in an effort to make the work place a much safer place to be on the Marsh Barton Trading Estate.

In 2012, 255 accidents at work were reported by Exeter businesses – over 40% of these were from the Marsh Barton area.

Flood relief and engineering works completed

An ambitious programme of works for the South Devon Link Road, carried out over the Christmas period, has been successfully completed.

Devon County Council and Torbay Council, together with contractor Galliford Try, have announced that the activity was completed well ahead of schedule.

The essential works took place at four locations in Newton Abbot and Kingskerswell and despite the poor weather went ahead without major incident.
