The 30-year-old man arrested on Wednesday 24 August in Somerset on suspicion of terrorism offences remains in custody.

Searches at an address in Exminster and a wooded area in south Devon are ongoing.

The man was arrested at 12:20pm by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command (SO15), supported by colleagues from Avon and Somerset and Devon and Cornwall Police, on suspicion of being involved in the preparation for acts of terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act.

Police are searching a house in Exminster and nearby woods as part of a counter terrorism operation.

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Somerset today [24 August] on suspicion of terrorism offences.

He was arrested at 12.20pm by officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s Counter Terrorism Command (SO15), supported by colleagues from Avon and Somerset and Devon and Cornwall Police, on suspicion of being involved in the preparation for acts of terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act.

Exminster’s ‘Outstanding’ village Pre-school commemorated its 35th Anniversary by hosting a special celebration party for all pre-school children and their families.

Children enjoyed a good old fashioned tea party, games and entertainment, and Josie Walledge, Chair of Exminster Parish Council, officially marked the anniversary by unveiling a commemorative plaque.

Pre-school raises £400 for Sports Relief

Children at Exminster Pre-school are thrilled to have raised £400 for Sports Relief 2016.

The children, all aged between 2 and 4 years, took part in a sponsored obstacle course organised by Pre-school staff; they carried 1 or 2 litre bottles of water around the obstacle course so they could start to gain an understanding of what some families in Africa have to do in order to get drinking water to their home.

All the money raised by the children at Exminster Pre-school will go to Sports Relief, helping some of the most vulnerable people in both the UK and the world’s poorest...

Santa thrills Exminster residents

Exminster residents came out in force when Father Christmas made a special visit to the village.

Santa delighted young and old alike as he toured the village in a red Morgan, donated for the event by Berrybrook Garage. The event was supported by the whole community with local shops, businesses and St Martins choir all getting involved.

The event, run by Exminster Pre-school, is a popular annual tradition in the village, and this year residents dug deep, donating a total of £233.97.

Residents in Exminster are getting ready for Exminster Pre-school’s famous Santa Tour and Christmas Bazaar!

On Friday 4th December, Santa will tour the village in style, starting at the Stowey Arms at 4.30pm, stopping at Coffee on the Corner for mulled wine and mince pies at 5pm, then on to the Royal Oak for the grand finale.
