Exmouth's Queens Drive Space gets £20k revamp

A big tidy up of Exmouth’s Queens Drive space, costing more than £20,000, has been completed with the area now reopen to the public.

Tourists and local residents alike will be able to sip drinks and eat delicious food, provided by local traders, throughout the day and evening in the newly revamped area.

Contractors, appointed by East Devon District Council's (EDDC) property team, have now removed some of the existing seating, both permanently installed and old wooden picnic benches, and replaced them with 24 new picnic benches made from recycled materials.

Award winning chippy Krispies wants to expand into Exeter

People in Exwick could be getting an award-winning chippie.

Exmouth-based Krispies wants to expand and has its eye on a former betting shop in the suburb of Exeter.

Husband and wife Kelly and Tim Barnes started their business in the seaside town more than 20 years ago and now have two stores: in Exeter Road and Pines Road.

Their culinary skill with the nation’s traditional dish has achieved critical acclaim, including being crowned the UK’s Fish and Chip Shop of the Year in 2019.

Three years of Exe Estuary wildlife refuges are working

The two wildlife refuges were set-up three years ago to ask all visitors to avoid these areas at certain times of the year: all year round off Dawlish Warren and between 15th September and 31st December at Exmouth Duckpond.

The results of a three-year monitoring programme have revealed that the wildlife refuges are working and show that people have mostly complied with requests to stay out of the areas.

Exmouth to host three-evening live music event next summer

A huge music event, which is expected to attract some of the UK’s hottest artists, is coming to Exmouth next summer.

‘Live in Devon’ will take place at the Imperial Recreation Ground, Imperial Road, Exmouth, on three consecutive evenings - Friday 2nd, Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th September 2022. The events are likely to attract more than 15,000 music lovers over the course of the weekend and bring a significant economic boost to Exmouth and the wider area.

The headline artists for each of the shows will be announced in the coming weeks.

In their third assignment in three days, at 12.41pm today Thursday 12 August 2021, H.M. Coastguard tasked the crew of Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II to attend a report of two individuals, including a 12 year old female, in difficulty in the River Exe.

Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew launched this afternoon to rescue two individuals reportedly stranded by the tide off Budleigh Salterton between Otter Point and Brandy Head.

At 4.43pm today Wednesday 11 August 2021 the crew of Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II were tasked by H.M. Coastguard to conduct a shoreline search along the Budleigh Salterton coastline east of Otter Point for a couple cut off by the tide in that area.

Exeter councillors have recommended that Pinhoe be moved into a proposed new parliamentary constituency with Exmouth.

It follows proposals for a shake-up of England’s electoral map for general elections from 2023. The South West has been allocated an extra three seats, including one in Devon that also strays into parts of Somerset.

Exmouth RNLI volunteer crew launched this afternoon to rescue an individual who had broken down on a rib off the coast of Exmouth.

At 4.26pm today Saturday 17 July 2021 the crew of Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II were tasked by H.M. Coastguard to attend a report of a lone individual in distress on board a rib with engine failure drifting of the coast of Exmouth at Littleham Cove. At 6:17pm today Saturday 10 July 2021 Exmouth RNLI Inshore Lifeboat D-805 George Bearman II were tasked by H.M. Coastguard to attend to two individuals and a dog who had become trapped by the tide between Orcombe Point and Sandy Bay, Exmouth.

The RNLI Inshore Lifeboat launched at 6.29pm, crewed by Helm, Roy Stott and volunteer crew James Searle and Ed Thomas and quickly made their way to the scene. They made contact with the casualties and took them on board the lifeboat.

The lifeboat returned to Exmouth where the casualties were safely put ashore at 6.45pm. None suffered...
