Councillors elected for 11 Devon County Council seats in East Devon, 2 East Devon District Council seats (Broadclyst and Whimple wards), Axminster Town Council Weycroft ward and West Hill Parish Council (uncontested)

Following a count administered by East Devon District Council at Knowle, Sidmouth, the results for the East Devon local elections were declared today (Friday 5 May 2017) by the East Devon Returning Officer Mark Williams.

Corner House Vets to boost Twilight Walk

The theme for this year’s all-female Twilight Walk on Saturday is “Back To The '80s”. And one group of Girls (who) Just Wanna Have Fun will be the assorted group of vets and administrative staff from Corner House Vets in Exmouth. They will also receive support from a very special friend: Ella the Owl, the event mascot! No doubt, she’ll be hoping for a performance of the Birdie Song!

Historic foundation stone at The Point marks the end of Exmouth Quay development

The Mayor of Exmouth, Cllr Brian Cole, joined Chris Fayers, Director of Exeter-based Eagle One Homes to unveil the historic dock foundation stone, from the original 1886 offices, now embedded in The Point at Exmouth Quay.

The completion of The Point brings the quay full circle and marks the 20-year transformation from run-down, derelict dock area to vibrant waterside community.

Puppies stolen from Exmouth home

Police are appealing to the public to come forward if they have recently been offered very young Shih tzu puppies for sale, if they are concerned about the provenance of the dogs.

Both dogs are four weeks old and unweaned. One is a male black and white and the other is a female, brown and white.

The dogs were taken from a residential property in Colleton Way, Exmouth on Sunday 23rd April, sometime between 8.30pm and 9.10pm. The house was unoccupied for the short space of time that the owner was admitted to hospital and a family member arrived to look after the property....

Police appeal after man assaulted in Exmouth

Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which took place at 3.30am on Sunday 9th April 2017, near the National Westminster bank on Rolle Street, Exmouth.

A 29-year-old man was assaulted by an unknown male leaving the victim with a serious head wound.

DC Rob Poole of Exmouth CID said: “We would like to reassure the public that we consider this to be an isolated incident. However, we are still keen to speak to anyone who saw this assault, which was serious.”

A Hen Night in memory of mum

Rebecca Goodenough and a group of friends are having a Hen Night with a difference. They are taking part in The Twilight Walk, a ladies only event in Exmouth on 8th July raising much needed funds for Hospiscare.

When she was just 13 years old Rebecca's mum died in St Michael’s Hospice, East Sussex. This was back in 1987 when it was a rarity to find a hospice, and at that time there were just six beds available at St Michael’s.

Exmouth now recycling 60% of their waste every week

Exmouth householders are now recycling almost 60% of their waste every week thanks to a new improved recycling service introduced by East Devon District Council in February.

Provisional findings show that recycling in the town has risen from 44% before the service was launched, to 59% in the first six weeks of the new scheme. Significantly, the amount of rubbish people are throwing away has dropped during the same period from 56% to 41%.
