The return of Taste East Devon - A 16 day food festival

Following the success of last year’s inaugural festival, Taste East Devon is delighted to announce its 2022 food festival is to run from 3-18th September, extending into a 16 day celebration.

Award-winning venues, producers, chefs and restaurants across East Devon have joined forces again to celebrate the incredible food and drink on offer across the region. Founder Members include THE PIG-at Combe, Darts Farm, Otter Brewery, Deer Park Country House, River Cottage, East Devon AONB, Donkey Sanctuary, Mazzard Farm, Jack in the Green and Lympstone Manor.

Exeter Racecourse’s new social media campaign will have followers reaching for the carrots and wondering wherever next as Peter Rabbit embarks on a journey from the Lake District to Devon in time for Family Day on April 8.

With the film Peter Rabbit recently opening in cinemas across the UK, and the main character from the film, Peter, visiting the racecourse on Family Day it’s #followtheracingrabbit campaign will see a cuddly version making appearance at famous venues up and down the country.

Family fun down at the farm

Families are invited to get stuck in at Lower Halsdon Farm, near Exmouth, on Sunday 27 September. From 10am until 3pm, children will be given the chance to connect with nature and the outdoors as work on hedge-centric tasks including cutting back and laying with loppers and saws. As well as learning new skills, they will build confidence and explore aspects of countryside management in an informal and relaxed way. Summer at the Axe Estuary Wetlands near Seaton can only mean one thing – it’s time for the Wet ’n’ Wild Summer Festival on Saturday August 16, organised by East Devon District Council’s Countryside team.

The day starts at 8am (weather permitting) with a bird ringing demonstration by the Axe Estuary Ringing Group, and a chance to identify and learn about live moths caught in a moth trap during the previous night.

Tractor Ted, the well-known children’s character, will be making his first ever appearance at Exeter’s family day on Tuesday, April 15.
