City held to a goalless draw by York

Match Report: Exeter City 0 York City 0

Paul Tisdale made two changes to the side which won at Dagenham & Redbridge in midweek, with Matt Oakley and Arron Davies both coming into the side. York, meanwhile, included James Berrett, who scored their winning goal over Yeovil Town on Tuesday.

The visitors began the game on top, but failed to create any clear openings in the opening exchanges. As City started to grow into the game, they showed promise along the flanks, with Lee Holmes popping up on both sides and looking bright, but they also suffered from a lack of chances....

Exeter City 3 Yeovil Town 2: Match report

Will Hoskins struck a late winner for Exeter City with five minutes to go of a pulsating opening day Sky Bet League 2 encounter with Yeovil Town.

A Tom Nichols penalty and a David Wheeler goal had given Exeter a commanding lead at the break, but that was cancelled out quickly in the second half, sub Harry Cornick scoring within a minute of coming on before Matt Dolan converted a penalty of his own.

But sub Hoskins had the final say, beating Yeovil keeper Chris Weale in the closing stages.

After both the seventh and ninth minutes saw two brilliantly-observed minutes...

City edged out at Plainmoor

Torquay Utd 2 Exeter City 1: Match report

Exeter City were edged out at Plainmoor as Torquay United came from behind for a 2-1 pre-season win.

Despite David Wheeler hitting the post and another close shave for Nichols in the second half, it was Torquay that won it, as Malachi Lavelle-Moore headed in captain Exodus Geohaghon's long-throw with his first touch since coming off...
