The not-insubstantial proposition that stands in Exeter City’s way is Hartlepool United, who...

Grecians come out on top in Devon Derby thriller

Report: Exeter City 3 Plymouth Argyle 1

Exeter City earned a 3-1 Devon Derby victory at the expense of Plymouth Argyle at St James Park.

A sticky first half ended goalless, but the game sprung to life after the break.

City went a goal up through Arron Davies, but a Luke Young free-kick gave the City fans a sinking feeling.

However Alan Gow’s delightful effort put the Grecians back in the lead in the final ten minutes, and Scot Bennett sealed the victory in stoppage time.

Danny Butterfield made his first start in a City shirt, following his substitute...

City manager optimistic at prospects of earning bragging rights in Devon Derby

"We go into every game expecting to win. I don’t go into any game with a pessimistic outlook, so we’ll do our very best for the game." Paul Tisdale

Ahead of the Devon Derby against Plymouth Argyle at St James Park, City manager Paul Tisdale is going in with a typical degree of optimism at Exeter’s prospects of earning the three points and the bragging rights.
