Exeter City are issuing a call to arms to supporters for the final home game of the season, as Cheltenham visit St James Park on Saturday 20 April (kick-off 3pm) – and are inviting the fans to come and celebrate the announcement of their nominated Player of the Year for the 2012/13 season. With the Grecians still in the running for a play-off spot, the club are asking as many supporters to come and contribute to an electric atmosphere at the final home game of the season. As well as the usual fare of a crunch League 2 tie, the stadium will also be a hive of activity for the whole afternoon...
An Exeter-based youth football team has received a wonderful boost thanks to the generosity of a local charity established to mark the life and achievements of one of Exeter City's best-loved players.
The players and supporters of Central FC are celebrating at the news that they have received a £495 grant made by the Adam Stansfield Foundation. The money will be used by the club to buy new equipment, especially footballs. The Foundation was formed after the Exeter City player's death from bowel cancer in 2010. The Foundation was formed to give young people the unique...
Following Exeter’s home defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge, manager Paul Tisdale lamented what has been a frustrating week for the Grecians.
A third consecutive defeat has left City trying to secure a play-off place in the final four fixtures. The Daggers took an early lead through a Scott Doe header and the Grecians were never able to carve out the opportunities to overturn the scoreline, and Paul drew attention to the lack of cohesion on the field which was going to make getting a result difficult.
“It’s been a really bad week,” conceded Tis. “I’ve just stood in the...
"I admire the youngsters in the Big Bank – they’ve been really, really positive this year."
Paul Tisdale
Ahead of the visit of Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday, Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale paid his compliments to the supporters for the role they’re playing in the promotion push.
With five games remaining, the Grecians are sitting pretty in the play-off places with the ambition of playing League 1 football next year still a real possibility. And Tis acknowledged that the continued upbeat influence of City’s supporters could prove all-important in the final...
Did you know that Exeter City's Football in the Community Trust runs many different football leagues here in Exeter?
We are always looking for new teams - or individuals - to join us. There’s something for everyone - and if there isn’t, why not give us a call and we’ll see what we can do?
Firstly, our six-a-side league is looking for new teams to play on Wednesday evenings from 6.30-8pm. The new City 6s league starts on 24 April on the excellent 3G rubber crumb pitches at the University of Exeter and is open any men over the age of 16.
Rochdale recorded their first victory at St James Park in 13 years as they turned a 1-0 deficit on its head late on to win 2-1.
The game had been on a knife-edge throughout with both teams providing plenty of opportunities to produce, much to the gratification of Jamie Cureton who responded by putting Exeter ahead on the stroke of half-time.
The Dale, though, never gave up the ghost, continuing to press to the last and were duly rewarded with late goals from Ian Henderson and Bobby Grant to come away with an invaluable three points...
Approximately 160 officers, including mounted officers from Avon and Somerset and South Wales Police, were deployed in a police operation aimed at ensuring Saturday lunchtime's 'Devon Derby' football match between Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City passed off with the minimum of trouble.
In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police report that the fixture "passed largely without incident before and during the match, with the vast majority of fans being well-behaved and... in good spirits.
"A small minority of individuals attempted to engage in disorder in the vicinity of the...
Exeter City finished on the wrong side of a 1-0 scoreline at Home Park, as Plymouth Argyle took the victory in the second Devon Derby of the season.
The Grecians had started the brighter in the game, but as Argyle settled, they looked more and more threatening.
They finally made the breakthrough just before the interval, with a piece of individual skill by Jason Banton who fired in a fine strike from distance.
Exeter remained within touching distance but it just crept away from them, as chances went amiss in the closing stages...
The all-Exeter derby ended in a draw as Exeter Civil Service and Alphington finished 1-1 at Foxhayes in the SouthWest Peninsula Div 1 East.
This was probably the last time Exeter Civil Service in their current guise will host the neighbours before a summer name change. A strong crowd as well as a decent pitch and weather set the basis for a fiery contest which didn't disappoint.
Both of the city's suburban sides started lively with several early chances. The opener, though, came from an unlikely source - when Paul Gibbins made a...
There has been a change to departure times for the Devon Derby against Plymouth Argyle on Saturday 30 March.
Fans that are travelling using the Grecian Travel coach service to Home Park this weekend should note that coaches will depart Arena Nightclub on Summerland Street at 10.30am, rather than 11am as originally stated.
The decision has been taken on the advice of the Devon & Cornwall Police. People that are getting on the coach at other collection points should also arrive 30 minutes earlier than previously advised.
