A leading housing association is set to build 218 homes in rural areas across Devon over the next two years.

In a week when the housing sector celebrates Rural Housing Week – a yearly event organised by the National Housing Federation – LiveWest has demonstrated its commitment to rural housing by building 508 rural homes in the past two years.

LiveWest has invested close to £44m in rural homes during the last financial year having built 264 homes in rural areas.

Planning consent granted for sustainable homes at Winslade Park in Exeter

Exeter based Burrington Estates has secured planning permission for a collection of 34 sustainable three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, and four affordable two- and three-bedroom homes at their flagship development at Winslade Park in Exeter, Devon. This vibrant multi-use site currently hosts both commercial office space as well as state of the art leisure facilities.

Local charity, Exeter Homes Trus t, celebrated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this week by taking part in The Queen’s Green Canopy initiative and unveiling a commemorative plaque at one of the Almshouse properties.

Exeter Homes Trust, formerly known as The Exeter Municipal Charity, was founded over 900 years ago. Providing housing for people, who are unable to remain in their own homes by reason of reduced circumstances, the Charity owns and manages 143 Almshouses in the city, at 8 estates. A board of 10 directors governs Exeter Homes Trust.

Exeter eco development set to complete in the summer

A new sustainable housing development in Exeter is on course for completion in the summer.

Housing association LiveWest has joined forces with partnership house building specialist, Lovell, to build 60 affordable homes at Ringswell Avenue.

There will be 35 homes for social rent and 25 for shared ownership, including a mix of two, three and four-bedroom properties.

The first residents are set to move in early summer and the whole development will be completed before the end of August.

Application to build 1,400 new homes at Cranbrook submitted to council

Up to 1,435 new Cranbrook homes, a second neighbourhood centre and a primary school could be built under freshly proposed plans, submitted to the council this week.

An outline planning application, put forward by Persimmon Homes, also includes 10 serviced pitches for gypsies and travellers, the creation of public open space, allotments and land for a cemetery along with a range of other infrastructure to support the proposed development.
