A world class field will be in action at Bicton Arena’s first affiliated horse trials which takes place on April 25 and 26. Run over Clinton Estate’s rolling parkland in east Devon, entries have been received from top names from the sport of eventing including multiple British team medalist Mary King, Sam Griffiths, a team member for his native Australia at London 2012, who has several rides including his talented mare Paulank Brochagh who competes at the highest levels of the sport and fellow Australian Paul Tapner. Exeter Racecourse has launched a fabulous new art competition for children aged 11 and under with the overall winner featured on the front page of its racecard on Family Day, April 15.

Exeter want children to come up with vibrant designs which depict the colour and vibrancy of a day at the races, from the brightly coloured silks worn by jockeys, to smiling faces in the crowds.

Exeter’s mid November meeting is when students descend on Haldon Hill to enjoy a free day at the races.

Anyone who is studying, whether its for a degree, or a British Horse Society exam is welcome to attend for free, as long as they possess a valid student card.

A free behind the scenes tour precedes the six races, and Luke Harvey will be offering his tips from the winners’ enclosure too.

Students are also eligible for a 50 per cent discount off Grandstand and Paddock tickets throughout the season.

Clydesdales to hit the racetrack at Exeter

A race with a difference will take place at Exeter Racecourse on Sunday 24 November when half a dozen or so Clydesdales will be thundering down the home straight with professional jockeys on board.

They belong to Tim Ancrum of Adventure Clydesdales which specializes in providing riding holidays across Dartmoor.
