Knightshayes is hosting its third annual celebration of local food and music in the parkland on every Sunday during August. These are free events for the whole family.

Soupstock was started in 2013 as a way to help new audiences discover Knightshayes. The aim was to put together an event to complement the local food served in the café, much of which is sourced from Knightshayes’ kitchen garden. The rolling Devon hills and the gothic stables block form the backdrop to this popular event.

Knightshayes to open 7 days a week

For the first time visitors to Knightshayes, near Tiverton, will have the opportunity to see the estate all year round, providing an insight into the National Trust’s ongoing work behind the scenes to care for the historic houses and landscape.

Visiting in the winter months, a time when the house and estate would usually have been closed, the public will enter via the East Wing, once a private flat and previously unseen part of the house. Scouts create woodland legacy at Knightshayes

On Saturday 24 January, local scout groups attended a Forester Badge day with the team at Knightshayes, the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton.

2nd Tiverton scouts, Halberton and 1st Taunton scouts, Wilton took part in a number of forester activities in Impey wood, including felling and cutting back trees safely using tools like loppers and bow saws and planting sapling oak, birch and field maple trees.

Get creative at Knightshayes this half-term

Knightshayes, the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton, has teamed up with the education organisation Daisi to provide fun and thought-provoking arts activities for families this February half-term holiday. Knightshayes has become a heritage partner to the Daisi project ‘Remembering the First World War: what it means to us’. Replanting Knightshayes with 12,000 trees

The woodland at Knightshayes, near Tiverton, is undergoing a programme of regeneration, with the ranger team replanting over 12,000 trees over the next three years. Throughout the last century, the woodland has undergone numerous changes. Originally farmer’s fields before being planted with larch in the 1950’s, the estate’s popular Impey Walk fell victim to the tree disease Phytophthora ramorum in 2011 and, since then, has been a tangle of impenetrable bracken and bramble. Toddler time at Knightshayes

Staff and volunteers are preparing for toddlers to take over the Knightshayes for its first ever Toddler Time on Thursday 12 February.

Between 11am and 3pm the National Trust property on the outskirts of Tiverton, is opening its doors to tiny explorers and their families. Each Toddler Time has a seasonal theme, with sensory activities for little ones to enjoy.

Experience Knightshayes by night

Experience a traditional Victorian Christmas by night at Knightshayes on the outskirts of Tiverton on 12, 13, 19 and 20 December.

Visit the house after hours, from 4pm to 8pm, to enjoy seeing its festive decorations lit up by candles and fairy lights; and discover the stories behind some well-loved Christmas traditions such as crackers and mistletoe.

On Friday 12 December, at 4pm, the illuminations will be switched on. The outside of the house, formal garden terraces and woodland gardens will be bathed in colour allowing people to explore them after dark for the first time...

It might seem early for some, but Christmas is never far from the minds of the staff and volunteers at Knightshayes, the National Trust property on the out skirts of Tiverton; and this year the team are pondering a very unusual question – what to do about the jolly man himself?
