Wyn and Peter Saunders from Crediton recently celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary with a lunch party at the Anchorage Hotel in Babbacombe.
The couple were both born in the London area and met at the South Bank University where Wyn was a student child nurse and Peter was a student dental technician.
They were married at St Matthew’s Church, Surbiton and honeymooned in Devon.
Both were evacuated to Devon during the war, Wyn to Morchard Bishop and Peter to Bideford. In 1967 they moved to Crediton with their four children.
As of yesterday, same-sex couples will be able to get married in England and Wales after new measures became law.
This movement has been welcomed by the more accepting population of England and Wales, and perhaps opened the eyes of those less supportive.
The Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat leaderships all backed the proposals, which were finally approved by MPs and peers earlier this week.
Maria Miller, the equalities minister, said marriage would remain the “bedrock” of society but would now be open to same-sex couples as well as heterosexuals.
Exeter Racecourse’s stunning River Room will be transformed into a wedding breakfast for 40 guests for two weeks during August, enabling brides-to-be to get a taste of what it would be like to have a wedding on Haldon Hill.
The room will be fully laid out with cutlery, crockery and glassware plus chair covers, swags, table decorations and lighting to give the wedding party some ideas for their big day.
The open weeks are in conjunction with Cover Cupboard who have their unit at the racecourse.
The room, with breathtaking views across the racecourse, will be open...
May, love is in the air and brides are getting gorgeous for their upcoming wedding dates. Choosing the makeup and hairstyle for your wedding day is a huge dilemma for many brides. Remain true to what you normally look like, accentuated.
True beauty is unique to each and every one of us. Channeling a celebrity's identity is an insult to your own special kind of beauty. Allow the makeup-artist...
Couples looking for a truly unique venue for their wedding can now choose to say ‘I do’ at The Donkey Sanctuary, which has this week been awarded a licence to hold weddings and civil ceremonies at its headquarters in Devon.
The charity has a choice of two venues for ceremonies: a formal garden room or the warm and cosy setting of a donkey stable. The headquarters are set in beautiful Devon countryside with stunning views and is home to 500 of the 15,500 donkeys that the charity has provided sanctuary for since forming in 1969. Profits from weddings held will go directly to...
(NewsPoint) – Hundreds of people are protesting in Lyon, France, against same-sex marriage, and for what they believe to be the protection of children.
Banners and t-shirts worn by participants read, 'A dad, a mum, period!', 'In defence of children', and 'Protect the weaker' (direct translations).
The demonstration appears to have been organised by Alliance Vita, a group that self-proclaims to "promote the protection of human life and the dignity of every person", and is a key part of the pro-life movement in France
Parents, especially mothers, find it very hard to be away from their young children for long periods of time. In the same way, kids will often scream their head off when their parents leave them.
What’s the cause of this kind of separation anxiety? I think it’s basically the bond formed between two people who are in a loving relationship. One can’t help but have the other person in mind all the time. The same thing holds true for lovers. Even before my husband and I were married, I could hardly wait for him to call or meet me, and for weekends when I knew we could spend more time...
