We'd love your your help for two days before the end of August to help pull our media campaign together.

We've joined forces with Radio Exe for this project and you would help record messages and interview staff, volunteers and supporters on what Hospiscare means to them.

Students of Exeter College got a taste of the big apple this month as 39 students of the Media faculty jetted off across the pond, drawn in by the bright lights of one of the most revered global hubs for media and entertainment. A twitter appeal by local businessman Adam Stone against a company’s 'ecological vandalism' has won a £500 donation to the Devon Wildlife Trust. While passing Exeter Car Dealers Bristol Street Motors, Adam saw an employee release handfuls of helium balloons into the sky rather than safely deflate them. Crime figures – good news or bad?

This week we saw the publication of the three-monthly crime figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS). As police and crime commissioner it is inevitable that the media will want me to comment in simple sound bites - is this good news or bad news news - so I thought I would clarify why I have been guarded in some of the interviews I have carried out this week. Want to try making a film? Now’s your chance! Exeter Phoenix is challenging all budding filmmakers to create, shoot and edit a film in the space of just 48 hours. No experience is necessary – just a good imagination and a free weekend.

On Friday 9 November film-makers, either individually or as part of a team, will receive a brief which will include a theme, a prop and a sentence which must be incorporated into their film. Entrants then have until the evening of Sunday 11 November to plan, shoot and edit a film no longer than 5 minutes.
