Gloucestershire’s acclaimed Festival Players are taking an all-male tour of William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors across the UK and into Europe this summer. The tour will head to Devon on Thursday, August 21st to the picturesque setting of Exeter’s 14th century Powderham Castle.

Exeter Forest School will be at Powderham Castle throughout the day on Sunday and bank holiday Monday.

A great opportunity for children to connect with the great outdoors and nature. Build a den and learn some basic bush craft and wood craft skills!

The Exeter Woodcarvers, who have kindly made our Nature Trails will be in the Nature Nook so you can see some of their creative works of art too.

10th Silly Mini Sunday

Go along to Powderham Castle on Easter Sunday for the 10th Silly Mini Sunday.

Watch a convoy of minis drive through the courtyard in the afternoon - a great spectacle and something any mini enthusiast in particular will want to see.

The theme this year is 'Under the Sea' so expect to see wave of minis and their drivers dressed accordingly to raise money for Children's Hospice Southwest.

Expected time of arrival 2.30pm. (Included in Castle admission)

Plans for huge pig farm scrapped

The Earl of Devon's Powderham Estate has scrapped plans for a pig farm in east Devon.

It had been proposed that the farm would accommodate up to with up to 8,000 animals on land beside the Exe Estuary owned by JMW Farms and the estate.

Concerns had been raised by local residents who set up a website called Stop Powderham Estate Pig Factory.

They were concerned over a number of issues including noise and smell.
