Exeter Chiefs winger Jack Nowell is looking to use England’s Six Nations Grand Slam victory to help steer the club to glory.

The 22-year-old was a key player for England, as Eddie Jones' side stormed to victory last month, and Nowell feels the experience will better him in the future.

Talking ahead of Chiefs highly anticipated European Champions Cup Quarter-final with Wasps, he said: “Playing in front of big crowds in high pressure situations and must-win games will benefit me when coming back here to play in the Quarter-finals.”

Baxter looks ahead to crunch European quarter-final

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has revealed his side are confident going into their European Champions Cup Quarter-final.

With the club having qualified for their very first European Cup quarter final, as well as being second in the AVIVA Premiership, it is an exciting period for the Chiefs as they visit an in form Wasps side on Saturday.

Ahead of the historic tie for the club Baxter says his side are expecting a tough match against the side, who Chiefs beat 41-27 in the Premiership earlier in the season.

He said: “We were really pleased with how we played that...

Saracens prove too strong for Chiefs

Saracens regained pole position in the race for the Aviva Premiership end of season play-offs by sinking visiting Exeter Chiefs with a five-try salvo at Allianz Park.

The defending champions – swelled by the return of their England contingent following recent Grand Slam heroics – hit top gear to swot aside the attentions of Rob Baxter’s side, who for the first time this season ended a league game without any reward.

Fly-half Owen Farrell led the way for the home side, helping himself to a 14-point haul, whilst also on the mark were Red Rose colleagues Alex Goode and Billy...

Long-serving prop Ben Moon says Exeter Chiefs can ill afford to get caught up in the emotion of things as they prepare to face Saracens in tomorrow’s top of the table clash in the Aviva Premiership.

The Devonians will head to Allianz Park in buoyant mood having leapfrogged the defending champions into top spot following their 20-12 victory at home to Northampton Saints last Sunday.

That success, coupled with Sarries going down at Leicester Tigers the same day, meant Rob Baxter’s side moved to the summit of the table for the first time this season.

And with just a...

Winning start for Turner at Chiefs

Lachie Turner insists it’s “onwards and upwards” for him after he made his Exeter Chiefs debut in Sunday’s Aviva Premiership clash with Northampton Saints at Sandy Park.

The Australian international was a late call-up at full-back in place of the injured Phil Dollman, but he certainly didn’t look out of place on his first outing as he helped Rob Baxter’s side move to the top of the table following their 20-12 victory.

Five penalties from the boot of fly-half Gareth Steenson and a second half try from winger Olly Woodburn proved enough for the Devon club, who had earlier...

Brown to depart Chiefs for France

Exeter Chiefs can confirm that prop Alex Brown is to leave at the end of the current season.

The 26-year-old tight-head, who signed for the Devon club during the summer of 2012 from Doncaster Knights, is to join French Pro D2 outfit Perpignan on a two-year deal.

Although Brown still had a year to run on his existing deal at Sandy Park, the Chiefs have agreed to release him from his contract by mutual consent.

Since making his first team debut against Leicester Tigers in September 2012, Brown has so far made 60 appearances for the club and was part of their LV= Cup...

Exeter Chiefs newcomer Lachlan Turner says he's more than happy to be thrown in at the deep end after he today sealed a move to the Aviva Premiership club.

The Australian international touched down at Sandy Park this morning to begin a two-and-a-half year deal with Rob Baxter's high-flying outfit.

Having played predominantly back home in Australia with Super Rugby sides the NSW Waratahs and Queensland Reds, the 28-year-old back last year spent time in the Top 14 with RC Toulon as World Cup cover.

Now, Turner - who has won 15 international caps for the Wallabies - is...

Injury woes start to ease for Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has today given a positive outlook on the club’s walking wounded during his weekly media briefing held at Sandy Park.

Having been without a number of frontline stars in recent weeks due to long-term injuries, it appears things are brightening up for the Devon club.

Hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie marked his return to first team action following a broken thumb at Worcester a fortnight ago, while the sight of Dave Ewers and Henry Slade both out and about in training this week is equally encouraging.

Meanwhile, locks Damian Welch and Mitch...

Baxter updates on injury front

Jack Nowell’s knee injury will not require surgery and is not as bad as first feared, Exeter Chiefs head coach Rob Baxter has revealed.

But that news has been offset by the revelation that lock Mitch Lees is set for around four months on the sidelines after an operation on his injured arm on Monday.

England back Nowell, 22, hobbled off in some pain with eight minutes left in Saturday’s 19-10 win over Gloucester, having badly twisted his knee in a tackle. He is unlikely to train this week.

Lees, who had been tipped for a spot in Eddie Jones’ England squad to be...
