On Thursday 7 March regional charity Young Devon is hosting its Big Sleep Out event in Exeter’s Princesshay from 8pm – 8am to raise awareness of the issues of homelessness for young people in Devon. A fire appliance from Danes Castle and another from Middlemoor were called out to rescue three shoppers - two adults and one child - stuck in a lift in Princesshay, Exeter this afternoon (2nd January).
On arrival the fire crews made contact with the occupants of the lift and used small tools and a short extension ladder to release the shoppers. All were uninjured and released to a place of safety.
Fire Crews from Exeter Danes Castle and Middlemoor were called to Princesshay at 9.37pm on Tuesday evening to rescue a member of the public following a fall into a confined space.
Fire Service personnel used safety equipment and two short extension ladders to rescue the casualty, who was conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.
The St Loye’s Foundation car raffle, in which Princesshay shoppers have had the chance to win a Peugeot 107 for £1, has raised in excess of £10,000 for the Exeter-based charity. The winning raffle ticket was drawn on Monday 17th December by Exeter’s very own Santa - the Deputy Lord Mayor of Exeter, Cllr Percy Prowse.

A beautiful artwork commissioned jointly by Land Securities and Exeter City Council and designed by international artists Studio Roso, is being installed at the top of Southernhay on the curved wall of Princesshay’s car park.
The installation commemorates Her Majesty The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh’s Golden Jubilee visit to Exeter in May 2012.
