Saltrock opens new Exeter store in Princesshay

Saltrock, the UK’s original surf lifestyle company is to open a brand new store in Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday 26 October 2013.

The new store will occupy the unit between schuh and LK Bennett, in the heart Princesshay, offering collections for men, women and children.

Samantha Pidgeon Store Manager says “We’re delighted to be opening a store in Exeter. Saltrock is a Devon based brand and what better place to open a store than in the heart of Devon. Exeter is a lively shopping centre and it’s been on our radar for a while.”

This year's Christmas Market in Exeter will run from Thursday 21 November until Thursday 19 December, on Cathedral Green. The Christmas lights ceremony will also take place on 21 November from 4pm-8pm, with Rob Baxter, Exeter Chiefs' Head Coach; Paul Tisdale, Manager of Exeter City Football Club and members of the Lympstone Military Wives Choir taking centre stage to jointly switch on the city’s Christmas lights during the event at 6.30pm.

Fashion retailer Oasis has been awarded the highly regarded flagship status. To celebrate its new title, the store will be holding a vintage tea party on Thursday 24 October from 4pm-8pm and customers can enjoy selected discounts of up to 15%.

Festive daredevils wanted to abseil from Exeter’s Princesshay Shopping Centre

Local residents are being challenged to abseil 80 feet down the side of Princesshay Shopping Centre dressed as Santa for charity. Action for Children is seeking daredevils who will raise vital funds for the country’s most vulnerable children, young people and their families by taking part in its Advent Abseil on Saturday 30 November. It is hoped the event will see hordes of Santas stepping safely off the top of the local landmark, 80 feet up in the air. Princesshay and Exeter High Street closed to investigate 'suspicious package'

At 6.24pm last night, Exeter City Centre Police were called to the Princesshay shopping area of Exeter by staff at the New Look store, who were concerned about a suspicious package that had been left in their shop. The shop was closed at the time of the call, as were the majority of premises in the area.

As a precautionary measure, a cordon was placed around the store and the direct vicinity and a specially trained police officer searched the scene.

The officer removed a bag containing non-suspicious items from the store and the cordons were removed.

Princesshay hosts wheelchair relay for Ataxia UK

Princesshay plays host to the first wheelchair relay on Sunday 13 October from 11am in aid of Ataxia UK – the Lord Mayor’s nominated charity for 2013 and 2014. Seven wheelchair users aided by friends and family will take part in the relay.

Ataxia is the term used to describe a group of neurological conditions that gradually attack the brain. Thousands descend on Princesshay’s Student Lock In

Princesshay Shopping Centre welcomed thousands of new and returning students to its annual ‘Student Lock In’ event on Wednesday 2 October. Over 3,600 students descended on the Student Lock In between 6.30pm – 9pm, with 30 retailers and restaurants offering discounts of up to 25% to students.
