The Vintage and Classic Car Rally has evolved from the Steam Festival Days held at Pecorama in the mid 1990's. It is now a standalone event which has grown in popularity over the years, with vehicles travelling from as far afield as Bournemouth, Bristol, Plymouth and Trowbridge to take part.

It's always a jolly and colourful affair, with deck chairs, sun brollies and picnic baskets scattered among the cherished vehicles. Much chatter and camera clicking takes place, as both visitors and participants alike inspect and admire the host of vehicles displayed in the Pecorama car parks...

Refugee rally attracts 600 supporters

Six hundred people gathered outside Exeter Cathedral this Saturday 12th September, in response to the escalating European refugee crisis. The shocking pictures of children dying in the Mediterranean, and reports of treacherous journeys being undertaken to escape war and persecution, stirred the hearts and minds of the people of Exeter to help. The compassion rally was called to show the government that refugees are welcome in Exeter and to ask the government to do more to help refugees. Exeter rally in support of refugees

In response to the escalating European refugee crisis hundreds of people gathered outside Exeter Cathedral yesterday (Saturday 12th September) to show their support for those that find themselves in need of refuge.

The shocking pictures of children dying in the Mediterranean and reports of treacherous journeys being undertaken to escape war and persecution have stirred the hearts and minds of the people of Devon to help. Two hundred people signed up to the event within 48 hours of it being created, which will be supporting the local charity Refugee Support Devon.

Fire Engine and Vintage Vehicle Rally

The fire engine and vintage vehicle rally is to be held at Nutwell Court Estate, Lympstone, on Sunday 28 June, 10am-5pm.

There will be plenty to see and do including steam engine rides, family dog show, co-responders, children's rides, craft marquees, refreshments and much more.

There will be two special guest appearances in the main arena by the St Giles Steam Pump and Percheron Horses, courtesy of the owner Mr John McDermot.

Exeter girl wins Silverstone rally competition

Silverstone Rally School searches for a future rally star every year to participate in a series of rallying events. This year, the winner was a girl named Stephanie Clark who lives in Exeter.

Each year, Silverstone Rally School holds their annual Rally Quest competition. Usually a separate competition will be held for males and females, but this year both sexes competed together. Despite initial uncertainties about competing with the men, Stephanie gave it her all and managed to win the competition outright.

Scone to Mongolia Charity Challenge

Devon scones, Mongolia and a 14 year old Citroen Saxon are an unusual combination of items but they are the essential ingredients for two guys, Ben and Jon, as they embark on an epic journey on the 20 July to Mongolia and back (hopefully!) in order to raise money for Cool Earth and ShelterBox.

500 Owners Club Annual Wiscombe Park Hill Climb

Speed hill climbing is one of the oldest forms of motorsport but it still continues to thrill and excite drivers, riders and spectators alike.

This meeting sees motorcycles and motorcycle-engined cars take centre stage along with local competitors and a number of drivers from the following day's vintage event who will be taking the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the track.

Competition is usually intense and in some instances the winning margin can be a mere 1/100th of a second.

‘Hearty Boys’ take on Mongol Rally

A Devon man will be taking part in the Mongol Rally 2014 this summer, driving more than 10,000 miles with a friend in a donated car.

Building surveyors Matthew Wyon-Brown from Exmouth, and his friend Mark Wellbelove from West Sussex, will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation, Devon Freewheelers and Cool Earth charities.

The ‘Hearty Boys’ will be using a 1988 Suzuki SJ413 for the unsupported journey to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

Thirty years after leaving school, three old school friends who attended St Wilfrid’s School (class of 1984) in Exeter are reuniting to take part in the famous Scumrun charity rally.

Starting from Brands Hatch on 8 May, Terry Gale, Richard Harris and Paul Stevenson will be covering 3,000 miles in four days in their £500 2.5L Mercedes that already has 205,000 miles on the clock. Hundreds attend anti-Islam film rally in West Yorkshire

Hundreds of people attended a rally against the anti-Islam film, 'Innocence of Muslims', in Halifax, West Yorkshire, yesterday afternoon.

All seven Calderdale mosques were represented at the afternoon rally, including those in Elland, Todmorden, and the five in Halifax.

Officers in groups of two are in position alongside community wardens in readiness of crowds assembling following afternoon prayers.

Hundreds walked from Madni Mosque to Queens Road for speeches from the rally's organisers as well as local politicians.
