Police investigate rape in Tiverton

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following allegations of a rape in Tiverton.

The incident took place in Collipriest Road near the junction with Little Silver at around 2.30am on Sunday 22 April.

The suspect is described as a white man, around 5’ 6” tall with a stocky build.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesperson said: “It is believed that the offender followed the victim from Tiverton town centre.

“We believe that three people walked past the victim prior to the attack on the way out of Tiverton town centre and got into a car nearby....

Woman dies following A361 bridge fall

A woman has died following a fall from a bridge near Tiverton.

Police were called just before 4.40am on Wednesday 6 December with reports that a woman had fallen from the bridge on the A361 North Devon link Road between Sampford Peverell and Tiverton.

The road was closed as emergency services attended the incident, including support from Fire and the Police helicopter.

Police scenes of crime remain also attended the scene undertaking initial enquiries.

Blundell’s School announces new head

The Board of Governors of Blundell’s School, have today 13th November, announced that Mr Bart Wielenga has been appointed as the new Head of this leading co-educational day and boarding school. Mr Wielenga will take up the position with effect from September 2018.

Mr Wielenga will become the thirtieth Head of Blundell’s School and will succeed Mrs Nicola Huggett when she leaves to become Head at Cheltenham College.

Mr Wielenga is currently Second Master at Blundell’s and has made a significant contribution to the growth and reputation of Blundell’s in recent years.

Hospiscare’s Light Up a Life event takes place annually in the run up to Christmas, a particularly poignant time of year for many bereaved people. The services offer a time and space apart to remember and honour loved ones who are no longer with us. Knightshayes appeal for local memories of Joyce, Lady Heathcoat Amory

A project is underway at Knightshayes as part of an effort to create an archive of recorded memories from people who met and knew Joyce, Lady Heathcoat Amory. The team at Knightshayes are on a hunt to find anyone who might have known Joyce, visited her, met her, played golf with her or have any memories they’d like to share. The project will run alongside a larger project next year to celebrate Joyce and share stories about her life. Lots of family fun at the Hospiscare Breakfast Run!

Hundreds of pyjama-clad runners, joggers and walkers from across Devon turned up at glorious Knightshayes near Tiverton on Sunday 17th September to take part in the Hospiscare Breakfast Run. The novelty event which featured a 5 or 10k route attracted runners from all age groups and abilities, with 482 people joining in to raise much-needed funds for local charity Hospiscare.

The participants enjoyed an off road course with some challenging inclines and were rewarded for their efforts at the end with a delicious breakfast from the Stables Kitchen.

Supporters are coming from far and wide to take part in Hospiscare’s Breakfast Run at the picturesque Knightshayes near Tiverton on the 17th September.

Sarah Awbery and her daughter are travelling all the way from Bournemouth to take part and are currently busy training and raising sponsorship. They have a special reason for supporting local charity, Hospiscare.

Work due to start on new junction near Tiverton

Work on a new £5.7 million junction off the A361 near Tiverton is due to start next month (September).

Roads Minister Jesse Norman carried out a ceremonial turf cutting at the site earlier this week (1 August) to mark the announcement, as part of a whistle-stop tour of road schemes in the county.
