White Stuff to open shop in Totnes

White Stuff is excited to announce the opening of its new shop in Totnes on the 1st March.

The shop will stand at 57 High Street and will feature a mix of clothing, footwear and accessories for men and women as well as homeware.

The 969 sq.ft. shop, which was historically a bank, will keep many of its original features such as the beautiful mahogany panelling, decorative tiles and the old lift which will be converted into a special kids’ play area. True to White Stuff values, there will also be a charity sweet shop as well as complimentary tea and coffee for visitors....

For this year’s third edition of the Sea Change Festival at Totnes, south Devon, a new partnership with pioneering arts organisation Dartington Hall will see the festival expanding into the historic 14th-century estate.

Picturesque Dartington will house the festival’s new Offshore main stage, in collaboration with Sharp’s Brewery, hosting a range of internationally acclaimed musicians, artists and DJs until late in the evenings of Friday 24 and Saturday 25 August 2018.

Mihangelf Promotions is a relatively new music promotions enterprise in South Devon putting on live music.

Thus far, there have been five events at the Unit 23 Live venue in Totnes, formerly South Devon Arts Centre, a short hop away on the train or up the A38.

The enterprise is run by music lover Mike Fraser who lives local to Totnes.

Genres of music focused on are psychedelic rock, psychedeliic/ambient/world dance and progressive rock, though don't be surprised at the occasional reggae or folk event.

If you can get down to Totnes on 17th March you will be able to catch Gong playing live at Unit 23 Live, the former South Devon Arts Centre. The band started out in the late 60's and are still going strong, albeit no longer with the original line up. They have a worldwide following and included in their March tour are venues in such cities as Paris, Oslo, Copenhagen and Sao Paolo in Brasil !

The first-time promoter, a fan, is putting them on in Totnes as he lives locally and hopes to help out local voluntary organisations by donating any proceeds.

Police find body in search for teenager

Officers searching for Nathan Wood, who went missing in Totnes on Friday 5 August, have found a body in the River Dart.

The body was discovered by police divers at around 12pm on Sunday 7 August.

Formal identification has not yet taken place but Nathan’s family have been informed.

Detectives from Totnes CID will carry out a full investigation into the circumstances of the teenager’s death and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

Brit Award Winning, Ben Howard wowed the crowds at his homecoming show last night at Plymouth Pavilions.

Two hours of awe-inspiring music, backed by his five-piece band. A man of few words, captivated the crowd by playing tracks from his two albums ‘Every Kingdom’ and his recently released ‘I Forgot Where We Were’ which was released in October last year. He opened the show with ‘Am I In Your Light?’, one of his lesser known, darker tracks, which set the tone for the night. BBC One has announced that Claire Goose and Matt Bardock will lead the cast of a new daytime drama, The Coroner.

Claire Goose (Casualty & Waking the Dead) will play Jane, the Coroner and Matt Bardock (Casualty) will play Davey, the local Detective Sergeant.
