Two new Parkinson’s Nurse Specialists have joined the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital to improve care for patients with Parkinson’s disease. Stacey Andrew and Samantha Moore will help to ensure patients receive the right specialist care when they are in hospital. A warning notice has been issued to Devon Partnership NHS Trust after failing to complete improvements to quality of care at Coombehaven ward at Wonford House Hospital.
The warning notice was issued after inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found that patients on the ward were still not consistently involved in the preparation of their care plans or had regular access to their named nurses despite these concerns being raised by a previous inspection.

Councillors attended a meeting on 12 August with representatives of the RD&E and highway officers of Devon County Council to discuss hospital parking.
The RD&E is working with the County Council to produce a travel plan intended to reduce the number of hospital staff, patients and visitors who use on-street parking in Wonford.

Police in Exeter are appealing for information following a serious injury road traffic collision. At approx 5.45am on Wednesday 23 October, a female cyclist was found lying in the road at the junction of Honiton Road, and Lower Hill Barton Road, Exeter. It is believed the cyclist had been riding along the offside pavement travelling towards the city centre. The woman, aged in her early 20s, was found unconscious and lying in the centre of the junction. She was taken to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Wonford, suffering from serious head injuries.
