Most of us have religiously shown our appreciation for NHS staff and key workers by raising the roof each week but very few will have gone to the lengths Devon Olymipan Jo Pavey has.

In an Astley Media In Conversations With webcast she revealed that on one occasion she took part in the 8pm tribute while running on a treadmill.

Jo had been asked to take part in a live-streamed, fundraising indoor relay but realised her slot coincided with the regular Thursday night celebration.

And so, undeterred, she managed to do both.

She said: “I was running on the...

This year’s Women Can challenge could be the last

The countdown is on to the UK’s only marathon challenge series exclusively for women – and it looks like being the last one ever.

The Women Can Challenges on Sunday May 26 offer full, half and quarter marathon options, all mainly off-road and taking in the spectacular East Devon countryside and coastline.

Organisers Pauline Beare and Peg Wiseman are retiring after the event and founder Jo Earlam has stepped down after two years at the helm.

With no-one to take it on, 2019 will bring the curtain down on this unique women-only experience, which is supported by Devon...

Jo Pavey presents former school with piece of London 2012 track

Five-time Olympian and 2014 European 10,000m champion Jo Pavey today visited her former secondary school, The King’s School, Ottery St Mary, to present a commemorative piece of the London 2012 athletics track, that she and so many other Olympic legends raced on four years ago.

The 43 year-old from Honiton, East Devon, presented a large, decorative framed piece of the track to the school as a memento of her sporting achievements. The mother of two was also presented with a piece of the track.

The London 2012 track that Pavey ran alongside athletics stars such as Mo Farah,...

Media frenzy in Honiton!

Standing on a chair taking pictures is not ideal, but when the local newspaper photographers turn out in force to an official event its best you give them the front row.

A media frenzy in Devon, well yes, sort of. Press photographers were eagerly snapping Exeter’s sporting heroine Jo Pavey as she opened our new £1.2m day hospice in Honiton.

Flashbulbs were going off like crazy, watched by patients, supporters and staff who loved being part of the action. Being the Hospiscare press officer is more than balancing on a chair taking photographs, I also had to balance a pad and...

Jo Pavey in stand against doping

Devon runner Jo Pavey is taking a stand against drugs cheats by agreeing to make her blood test results public.

Following a national newspaper investigation, athletes were warned last week against publishing their test results. British Athletics feared releasing selective data could be “misinterpreted” and may also imply those not publishing their data were “guilty by omission."

But Mo Farah, whose coach, Alberto Salazar, was the subject of doping allegations – and has since denied any wrongdoing – broadcast in a BBC Panorama programme in June, along with Jo are among eight...
