One Night at the Disco: Lost in Music concert show takes music fans back to the 70s

Hit concert show Lost in Music is coming to Exeter Northcott Theatre on Friday 16 September.

Disco’s roots are firmly founded in the early Seventies, says James Taylor, producer of the hit touring concert show Lost in Music... which hits town in the coming weeks.

“It was a time when Motown Records’ biggest stars began to get funky,” he says. “Philadelphia Records became a hit song conveyor belt with its distinctive combination of soulful vocals and lush arrangements. And, soundtracks of movies – from Shaft to Car Wash – lifted the world to its dancing feet.”

Kickstart trainees receive their certificates

Success for Kickstart trainees

Kickstart trainees have received certificates for completing their six-month apprenticeship with Devon County Council.

A group of 12 young people took up trainee roles with the County Council through the government funded Kickstart scheme, which was designed to enable 18-24 year-olds to receive an apprenticeship.

Five of the apprentices trained as park rangers at Stover Country Park and the Grand Western Canal Country Park, while the remainder worked in administrative based roles in a variety of departments at the County Council.

Staff and residents at Barchester’s Cumberland Grange care home in Exeter had a fantastic time celebrating National Prosecco Day on the 13th August, along with a selection of delicious cheeses from Quicke’s Cheese Shop in Newton St Cyres.

Tilia Homes has purchased a 10-acre parcel of land at Shillingford Road in Exeter, as it seeks to expand its property portfolio into this historic city.

The site is located in Alphington and has outline planning permission in place for more than 100 homes. 30% of the homes will be allocated as affordable properties in a mix of social rent and share ownership tenures, and Tilia Homes will be making a significant financial contribution to the local area through the Section 106 agreement. South Western Railway: August strike service levels

South Western Railway (SWR) customers are being discouraged from travelling to the coast later this week and into the weekend, with strike action set to cause severe disruption across the network.

While the fine weather might make a day trip to the beach an attractive prospect, SWR is urging its customers to only travel on the network if absolutely necessary between Thursday 18 and Sunday 21 August.
