Ultrafast fibre broadband roll out gathers pace in Devon

Exeter based ultrafast broadband company, Jurassic Fibre has today announced that even more Devon residents and businesses will be able to benefit from its state-of-the-art ultrafast broadband network in the near future, having started construction in a further six towns across the County. The towns are Bideford, Teignmouth, Crediton, Seaton, Colyton and Axminster as well as many of the surrounding villages. The first premises will be released to market by the award-winning ISP in these locations later this year.

Ampaire, a pioneer in hybrid electric aircraft technology, launches demonstration flights between Exeter Airport and Cornwall Airport Newquay this week, to advance the use of sustainable aviation, driving down costs and emissions on short regional routes. The flights are part of a series of government-backed trials aimed at moving the UK towards green aviation.

Some of the biggest names in cycling will be competing in this year’s Tour of Britain, and if you’re planning to watch them in action in Devon on Monday 6 September you can take your pick of 115 miles along the route.

Devon County Council will host Stage Two of the 17th edition of the race on Monday 6 September, with a stella field of riders including Mark Cavendish and Wout Van Aert due to take to the start line.

Wealth manager Brewin Dolphin’s South West offices (Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) have been busy organising and taking part in various fundraising challenges for their chosen charity, Exeter-based Farms for City Children , and have raised £10,000 since January 2020.

Their latest endeavour was the Brewin Dolphin 7-Day Challenge, which saw members from the respective offices walk, run or cycle 655 miles collectively over seven days, raising over £1,000 for Farms for City Children.

Families affected by dementia in Exeter, Torbay and Teignbridge are being invited to take part in an award-winning programme, to help train the healthcare professionals of tomorrow and improve dementia care.

Supported by Alzheimer’s Society, the project Time for Dementia pairs families affected by dementia with undergraduate students, to better educate the students about life with dementia and the challenges that come with it.
